1. Objectives Theory of Iinsim․Tosim(the Human -Mind and the Moral -Mind) that originated from『Sang-Seo(尙書)』「Dae-Woo-Mo(大禹 謨)」is a relative importance point of dispute at the existing confucianismand chosun's neo confucianism. Our consideration point is that a close examination of relation between Iinsim-Tosimtheory of existing confucianism's and Lee Je-ma's thought of Iinsim․Tosimand his creative exposition that is related to view of human being contained theory of sasang(四象), knowledge & conduction(Jihang,知行). 2. Methods of Research We analyze『Gyukchigo(格致藁)』that is contained confucianism's contents and Lee Je-ma's view point of human being. and consult『Dongyi Suse Bowon chobongeun(東醫壽世保元草本卷』,『Dongyi Suse Bowon(東醫壽世保元)』, reference about confucianism and some other thesis. 3. Results (1) Lee Je-ma's thought of Iinsim․Tosim is closely connected each other. There is close correlation between Iinsim and Tosim such as both ends. And Iinsim․Tosim is not virtue and vice relation but all good concept. though each have fragility, Iinsim have weakness of laziness and Tosim have that of desire. (2) Lee Je-ma insist on having lisim(理心)-kyungsim(敬心) for overcoming each fragility that weakness of laziness and desire. And he present learning(學) and speculation(思) for acquirement of lisim(理心)․kyungsim(敬心). (3) Lee Je-ma's thought of Iinsim․Tosim's containing meaning is not one side but both side for nature(性) & emotion(情). therefore Iinsim․Tosim is closely connected Lee Je-ma's view of human being and theory of knowledge & conduction(Ji-Hang, 知行論). That is very different from existing confucianism & MyungSunlock(Book of Illuminating Goodnes)'s thought. (4) Iinsim is connected with knowledge(知), Tosim is connected with conduction(行) (5) Lee Je-ma's thought of Affairs - Mind - Body - Objects(事心身物) is closely connected with Iinsim-Tosim. 4. Conclusions There are no parts that directly criticized by LEE JE-MA, comparing with he's thought and the existing confucianism's theory of Iinsim․Tosim, a specific person's theory. but LEE JE-MA approached the theory of Iinsim․Tosim with thought that is not an extension of existing confucianism's thought, but original with himself, therefore LEE JE-MA's thought of Iinsim․Tosim is closely connected with the most important conceptions(theory of nature & emotion, theory of knowledge & conduction) at the Sasang Constitutional Medicine. and Iinsim․Tosim is an important clue for understanding the thought of LEE JE-MA.

1. Objectives This research is purposed to find Lee Je-Ma's thought on Inclination of Mind(心慾) and Nature & Emotion(性情), through summarizing sentences related to Inclination of Mind(心慾) and Nature & Emotion(性情) proposed in the chief writings on Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Methods It was researched bibliologically with Lee Je-Ma's chief writings such as 『Gyukchigo (Draft on Inquiring the Properties of Things, 格致藁)』, 『Dongyi Suse Bowon Sasang Chobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)』『Dongyi Suse Bowon (Longevity and Life Preservation in Oriental Medicine, 東醫壽世保元)』. 3. Results and Conclusions (1) Lee Je-Ma'sMind(心) is the dimension of the Great Absolute(Taegeuk,太極), and is related with Benevolence- Righteousness-Propriety-Wisdom(仁義禮智) (2) Human being is classified Taeyangin(太陽人), Taeumin(太陰人), Soyangin(少陽人), Soeumin(少陰人) by SungLi(性理), and The Mean(鄙人), TheWeek(薄人), The Avaricious(貪人), The Sycophantic(懦人) by JungYok(情 慾) in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. (3) Nature & Emotion(性情) of Sorrow-Anger-Joy-Pleasure(喜怒哀樂) is divided into two function. One is native function related with SungLi(性理), the other is acquired function related with JungYok(情慾). Also all two native and acquired function is related with Benevolence-Righteousness-Propriety-Wisdom(仁義禮智). (4) The Mean(鄙人), TheWeek(薄人), The Avaricious(貪人), The Sycophantic(懦人) may be defined as the state of Inclination of Mind(心慾) of Taeyangin(太陽人), Taeumin(太陰人), Soyangin(少陽人), Soeumin(少陰人) by function of acquired Emotion(情).

1. Objectives This paper was tried to find out Dong-Mu's recognition systemfor Sasang Structure about『Dongyi Suse Bowon』 and『Gyukchigo』 2. Methods The study was researched through comparative studying in a structural manner between『Gyukchigo』's Affairs-Mind-Body-Objects(事心身物) and 『Dongyi Suse Bowon』's Heaven-Human-Nature-Order(天人性命). 3. Results and Conculusions 『Gyukchigo』's Affairs-Mind-Body-Objects(事心身物) should be understood as Dong-Mu's change process of thinking scheme before writing the book of『Dongyi Suse Bowon』and it is somewhat difficult to make a connected attachment in a lump between『Dongyi Suse Bowon』's Heaven-Human-Nature-Order(天人性命) and『Gyukchig o』's Affairs-Mind-Body-Objects(事心身物). Just『Dongyi Suse Bowon』's Heaven-Human-Nature-Order(天人性命) can be understood as a new recognition systemto encompass『Gyukchigo』's Affairs-Mind-Body-Objects(事心身物).

1. Objectives This paper is written for clear understanding on the concepts of 'Deep adherence of the Nature' and 'Sudden explosion of the Emotion' and for intensive comprehension of Mechanism of ‘The Exterior Disease' and 'The Interior Disease' by The Nature and the Emotion. 2. Methods The study mainly based on "The exterior disease injured by the Nature, the interior disease injured by the Emotion" and deals with 'Seongmyungron, Sadanron, Hwarkchungron and Jangburon'. 3. Results and conclusions The conclusions as follows (1) Exterior Disease in each constitution breaks out by deep adherence of the Nature. Interior Disease brings out with sudden explosion of the Emotion. (2) 'Deep adherence of the Nature' is the state that the Ear, Eye, Nose, Mouth taking care of environmental frames can't work enoughly because of wrong minds on the Jaw, Breast, Umbilicus, Abdment. 'Sudden explosion of the Emotion' is the state that the Lung, Spleen, Liver, Kidney doing human affairs doesn't do appropriately for each constitution due to negative minds on the Head, Shoulder, Waist, Hip. (3) The result that the Ear, Eye, Nose, Mouth doesn't extract the clear energy from 'Jin, Go, You, Yaek sea' so they are lack of 'Shin, Qi, Hyul, Jeong' causes exterior disease in each constitution. (4) In each constitution, Interior disease results from that the Lung, Spleen, Liver, Kidney fails to bring on the clear juice from 'Lee, Mak, Hyul, Jeong sea', so shortage of 'Jin, go, You, Yaek' results in it.

1. Objectives In ShinChukbon『DongyiSuseBowon』, there are many contents of constitutional diseases and symptoms. The aim of the present study was to investigate recognition of sleep as Dong-Mu's constitutional symptoms. 2. Methods In ShinChukbon『DongyiSuseBowon』, I found contents about sleeping and made comparative study of acquired contents. And I made comparative of previous studies. 3. Results (1) I concluded that Soumin who has interior and exterior diseases didn't get sleep well. Under the condition that constitutional diseases are cured, Soyangin gets to sleep well. (2) I concluded that Soyangin who has interior and exterior diseases sleep lesser than ordinary symptoms. Under the condition that constitutional diseases are cured, Soyangin gets to sleep well. (3) I concluded that Taeumin who has interior diseases sleep lesser than ordinary symptoms. Under the condition that constitutional diseases are cured, Taeumin gets to sleep well. (4) I concluded that Taeang who has constitutional disease may sleep lesser than ordinary symptoms. But not confirmed. 4. Conclusions There is some ground that sleep as constitutional symptom would be a good authority of checking constitutional disease.

Objectives However there was a report that dyspepsia occurs more frequently in Soeumin, there has not been any clinical research if structural changes such as gastritis occurs differently according to Sasang Constitution. So in this research, we investigated to find out if there are differences in the degree and types of gastritis and gastrointestinal symptoms according to Sasang Constitution and gender difference. 2. Methods Subjects were 30 men and 38 women, who had visited Kyung-Hee Medical Center for physical examination and took gastroscopy and differential diagnosis of Sasang Constitution in March, 2003. We investigated the degree and types of gastritis and gastrointestinal symptoms. 3. Results and conclusions Gender difference han no relation with types of gastritis, but had significant relation with the degree of gastritis and gastrointestinal symptoms. But Sasang Constitution had no significant relation with the degree and types of gastritis and gastrointestinal symptoms.

1. Objectives This study is to find the difference of ERP in Sasang Constitutional groups 2. Methods Auditory ERP were measured in 32 healthy males. Latency and amplitude of P300 component were analysed. 3. Results The latency of ERP P300 component in Taeumin group was more extended than that in other groups. It was significant statistically. The Amplitude of ERP P300 component in Soyahgin group was more extended than that in other groups. 4. Conclusions This results suggest that ERP measuring could be used in Sasang Constitutional diagnosis.

1. Objectives The purpose of nursing is to promote health and well-being for all persons. It is connected with Sasang Constitution theory have regard for viewpoint by other's a special quality & individual difference. A nursing is helping behavior to recover health, disease protection & self care ability through health education. There is need for Oriental nursing research continually. 2. Methods This study attempted to develop a fundamental nursing theory for Sasang Constitution on the focus 『Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun』. Because the book is important to understand Lee Je-ma's early medical mind and thinking. 3. Results and Conclusions The Sasang Constitution theory lay great emphasis upon health caring medicine to promote health according to self Constitution at normal times, preventive medicine to manage byself body and mind in ordinary times. The way of Sasang Constitutional Nursing Theory is expected to set up a landmark stone in Korean nursing. It is also can product a new nursing theory. In view of ‘Nature and Order' is explained inborned general human being who were gifted from nature. On the other hand, in view of 'Knowledge and Deed' based on Constitutions are explained autonomical human being. There are depend on independant control and make efforts themselves or not. It have a connected in four paradigm (human- environmenthealth- nursing) of nursing theory. The history taking stage claim caring of sick-people before. The ways of assesment for sick-people have to know a process of illness.

1. Objectives Yangkyuksanhwa-tang is used mush in pruritus and dermatopathy of Soyangin. It is suggested this prescription is effective on atopy dermatitis. 2. Methods For observation of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang effected to atopic dermatitis, extract of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang has been dispensed to the stratum corneum of epithelium in dermatome of murine after making damage to its defense mechanism against fat and causing atopic dermatitis artificially. After that, the change in outer dermatome and minute mechanism of epidermis, the change of eosinophil, the change in distribution of soybean agglutinin, the change in distribution of fat and ceramide in stratum corneum, the change in inflammation in dermatome, the change of cell accrementition and apoptosis, and the effect on anaphylaxis and Staphylococcus aureus was observed. 3. Results After administration of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang, severe skin damage such as eczema and psoriasis, that was observed in the case of atopy dermatitis, was decreased and the increase of eosinophil in serum was suppressed. Lipid lamella was recovered, so epidermal demage was relieved. The distribution of HSP70 in the outer skin was decreased. Yangkyuksanhwa-tang suppressed activation of NF-κB p50, induced CD11/18b not to be generated, and suppressed inflammatory response of skin. Anaphylaxis and groth of Staphylococcus aureus was suppressed. 4. Conclusions Yangkyuksanhwa-tang decreased skin damage of atopy dermatitis. It has antibiosis about Staphylococcus aureus, it can be medicinal substances on atopy dermatitis. In addition, it is possible that it can be medicinal substances on regional skin allergy.

1. Objectives Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is thought to be due to debris which has collected within a part of the inner ear. It is best characterized by true vertigo and geotropic nystagmus that occur a few seconds after specific head movements. The symptoms of BPPV include dizziness or vertigo, lightheadedness, imbalance, and nausea. The vertigo usually lasts no more than a minute. This study is reported to evaluate the effect of Geopung-san(祛風 散) to patient with vertigo. 2. Methods This patient was treated by Geopung-san(祛風散) and Acupuncture, who was diagnosed as Soeumin interior disease. We used Visual analogue scale(VAS) for the assessment of vertigo. 3. Results This patient`s main symptom is vertigo according to head movement with nausea and vomiting. So she was treated by Geopung-san(祛風散) in『Dongyisasangsinpyun(東醫四象新編)』and showed a positive response about her problems. 4. Conclusions We suggest that Geopung-san(祛風散) is effected significantly to patient with vertigo, but then we consider that studies about the case like this are more needed.

1. Objectives Hiccup is one of common symptoms clinically and caused by various etiologies. Persistent hiccup is defined as hiccup lasting more than 48 hours. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicines(Dokhwaljihwang-tang, Yangkyuksanhwa-tang). 2. Methods To heal the persistent hiccup, we used Dokhwaljihwang-tang and Yangkyuksanhwa-tang. 3. Results A Soyangin patient diagnosed to have persistent hiccup was, treated with Soyangin herbal medicines (Dokhwaljihwang-tang and Yangkyuksanhwa-tang), and change of his symptom & general condition was managed. 4. Conclusions The constitutional treatment with Soyangin herbal medicines(Dokhwaljihwang-tang, Yangkyuksanhwa-tang) may have an effect on management of persistent hiccup. Further study on management of this disease is needed.

1. Objectives Hyperemesis Gravidarum is one of common symptoms clinically and caused by pregnancy. This is defined as vomiting sufficiently pernicious to produce weight loss, dehydration, acid-base imbalance. In severe case, it also leads to neurologic abnormality including confusion, gate disturbance, nystagmus. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicines, Soyangin Hyungbangsabaek-san. 2. Methods To heal the Hyperemesis Gravidarum, we used Soyangin Hyungbangsabaek-san. 3. Results Hyperemesis Gravidarum of a Soyangin patient was treated with a herb-medicine, and change of her subjective symptom & general condition was managed. 4. Conclusions The constitutional treatment with herb-medicine (Soyangin Hyungbangsabaek-san) was efficacious against Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Further study on management of this disease is needed.

1. Objectives The Excessive sweating or Hyperhidrosis is a state of abnormal sweating on palm, sole and axillary region. But we do not know the exact cause and the healing method of that. It is known that the only treatment of Excessive sweating is surgical sympathectomy and a thoracic sympathetic gan-glion block with neurolytics. 2. Methods We have three case-reports of the patients who have the excessive sweating. 3. Results In this study the patients classified by Sasang constitutional medicine had a notable medical effects. And in the result, any symptom is not remained. 4. Conclusions So we report the healing processes and results of these patients in this study.

Objectives Generally speaking, we could've not been used moxibustion to Soyangin. But we thought what matters is that which point is chosen, not that what method is chosen. So we had a case of moxibustion at Ki1 for a Soyangin patient with insomnia Methods We managed a patient with insomnia after intracranial hemorrhage. He had been undergone conservative therapy, herb medicine, acupuncture, sedatives. 20 days after admission we started to do moxibustion at both Ki 1 point(湧 泉). We used artemisia and, the method was direct form. Results The duration and the quality of sleep of the patient was improved. After 10 days, he could sleep for 5 hours. Accompanied symptoms, as mentality, urination, and defication, was also improved. Conclusions From this case we could accept the efficacy of moxibustion at Ki 1 for Soyangin patient suffering from insomnia.

1. Objectives In general, arthropathy is treated with conservative method or only observed. Recently, I have effectively treated one patient with chronic arthropathy caused by loose body using constitutional method. So, I would like to report about this case. 2. Methods Consulting her Sungjeong(性情), Chehyungkisang(體形氣像) and QSCCⅡ, I diagnosed her as Taeumin and treated her with Taeumjowi-tang(太陰調胃湯) plus jejo(蠐螬) etc. 3. Results After treatment she felt her symtoms-pain, edema, stiffness of joint improved. 4. Conclusions This paper describes the process of management and changes of symptoms. I hope this paper useful to rehabilitatable treatment for arthropathy through Sasang Constitutional Medicine.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of administration of Mushroom yogurt on the Diabetes Millitus paitients. 2. Methods We collected 24 Taeumin patients with glycosurea in Dongeui Oriental Hospital, and then adminisrtation of Mushroom yogurt, medical examinations and questionnaire test of symptons for 13 weeks. 3. Results (1) At the symptoms change : Subjects of glycosurea clincal symptoms questionnarie which showed improvement above 50 percents were 'I have to urinate frequently' and 'I feel severe thirst'. (n=22) (2) Level of FBS significantly decreased at the inspection of 5 weeks․ 9 weeks․ 11 weeks afterwards( P-value=0.008, P-value=0.002, P-value=0.022), Level of HbA1c significantly decreased at the inspection of 13weeks afterwards(P-value=0.000).(n= 24) 4. Conclusions We have concluded that these effects must be useful in the clincal study of the Sasang constitutional treatment on Diabetes Mellitus Patients.
