The purpose of this study is to analyze <Grand Opera Jang Bogo> composed by Kim Soo-hyun.,This opera uses classical music, modern music, and bi-musical and Korean traditional words in a mixed manner.,In other words, music of the classical music language, Jangdanjo, and the modern music language, such as the whole scale, chromatic scale, and mode, are used, and the five scales and Korean traditional music rhythms are appearing together for the Korean traditional music language.,In addition, beats are used evenly with beats, double beats, and mixed beats. The most important feature is the use of hemiola rhythm.,In addition, Nana, the main character, plays with a double with flute as an aria without lyrics as an instrumental expression of vocal music. The lyrics are changed rhythm or beat from time to time according to the accent and accent of language for accurate lyrics delivery and applied to melodic structure.,This purposefully connected the relationship between lyrics, rhythms and beats closely and helped to understand the contents by using friendly colloquial words.,In addition, the systematic theory of Western music combined Korean rhythm, scale, and linguistic characteristics, and appropriately mixed and varied Korean elements in the opera, which is Western music.
As such, various materials ranging from Korean materials to Western elements appear, and composers freely choose them according to the dramatic flow and combine them in various ways.,And this freely uses heterogeneous elements of the West and the East according to their dramatic expression intentions. This study is meaningful in terms of pursuing new direction and diversity of Korean creative opera.
