    Yong-Kwang Lee | 2006, 12(3) | pp.7~14 | number of Cited : 2
The purpose of this study was to analyze the elderly welfare facilities in Germany, which already entered into the aging society. Especially, the multipurpose and large elderly welfare facilities, where more than 50 elderly people lived, were analyzed. For this purpose, a field study was conducted between January 13 and February 3, 2005. This study tried to find out the architectural characteristics and trends of elderly welfare facility. There are about 9200 elderly welfare facilities in Germany, and about 7% of the elderly people over 65 years old live there. As for the multipurpose elderly welfare facilities, there are about 5800 facilities, 64% of the total facilities. The elderly welfare facility carries out single function at the early stage, and adds up another functions step by step. In general, the facility is managed with focusing on two main functions (care function and residential function). In a small town, the care function is the major one of the facility. However, in the city, the major functions of the facilities are both care and residential function, which are elderly residence or safeguard house.

A Study on the Spatial Changes of General Hospital O. P. D. in Korea

    손재원 , Teuk-Koo Lee | 2006, 12(3) | pp.15~26 | number of Cited : 1
Nowadays, it has been changed in medical environments which are the increase of the aged and chronic disease, development of medical system and technology, the open of medical markets according to negotiation of DDA(Doha Development Agenda) and FTA(Free Trade Agreement) and so on. The changes of medical system and function are caused by changes of medical environments. This study is to analyze the spatial changes of general hospital O. P. D. in Korea based on changes of the medical system and function. In conclusion, the O. P. D. in general hospital has been changed by stages as follows; First, subdivision and specialization of medical organization systems. Second, diversification of specialized centers based on medical cooperated systems. At last, integration of E&T faculties and specialized centers which have similar functions.According to the spatial changes of outpatient department, the types of E&T faculties and specialized centers has been changed by diverse forms as follows; E&T faculties and specialized centers focused on disease, organs, classes and so on.

A Study on the Architectural Planning of the X-ray Unit in General Hospital

    윤우용 , Choul-Gyun Chai | 2006, 12(3) | pp.27~34 | number of Cited : 0
Planning for the space of the Media Medical Department requires the details about the efficiency of the equipment and the operation in professional sector. For that, as designing, it is necessary to keep communicating with the experts on the technology and the officials from the company producing the equipment. One of the common concerns is not only how to insure enough room for the future extension and the upgrade of the equipment, as concerning the scale of the hospital, but the plan to cover movie cameras. As technology has been developed, despite the fact that machinery tend to be small, it can be possible to require continuously about the concerns of the scale because the camera taking body-picture tend to be much bigger and more complicated than before. Currently used diagnostic media techniques are divided by the method and the feature of the equipment such as Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Angiography. The general and special photographing units which are used more than the other diagnostic parts, must be planned not for experiencing any inconvenience and unnecessary risks for the patients and must accept technical requirements. Also, it must be designed not to be seen as a clinic zone, as concerning the psychological stability of the patients. However, study of the general and special photographing units among the domestic general hospitals is insufficient. Also, as there is shortage of the material considering the development of the equipment, when planning, it's involving a lot of difficulties. Thus, this study has got a purpose on giving the basic material which is essential for further study, as suggesting the planning guidelines and the alternative plans for the general and special photographing units in a general hospital.

A Study on the Circulation System of Germ Free Pigs' Facility

    Kwon, Soon-Jung | 2006, 12(3) | pp.35~41 | number of Cited : 3
At the moment, a lot of interest in the research on Gnotobiotic Pigs are increasing in order to produce alternative human organs. So, it is very important to design and build proper housing facilities for Germ Free Pigs. Among the design issues related to Gnotobiotic Pigs' farms, circulation system takes a high position because it carries an important role in keeping the pig's housing environment aseptic. Considering those, this study aims to propose the guidelines for the design of circulation system in Germ Free Pig's facilities. The results of this study are as follows. At first, functional areas of Germ Free Pigs' facilities have been divided into three categories according to the clean level; aseptic area, semi-aseptic area, and non-aseptic area. Secondly, the basic principles of circulation system have been proposed. Finally, circulation system of Gnotobiotic Pigs' facility has been explored as a form of diagram according to the circulating subjects. These include human circulation, pig's circulation, and goods' circulation. This study has some limitations in that it is transcendent and lacks empirical evidence. Despite of some weaknesses, it is expected to give some useful guidelines for the design of circulation system in Germ Free Pigs' facilities.

A Study on Analysis of Actual Condition of Physical Living Environment for the Challenged People

    Seong-gyu Lee , 정은영 | 2006, 12(3) | pp.43~51 | number of Cited : 4
This study was from the survey on the items related to the challenges, the activity frequency of the challenged people and the places where these activities take place and the satisfaction and the demands on the facilities for the challenged people from 1,284 challenged people over the age of 20 living in Korea nation wide. From the survey, it was shown that the biggest demand lied in the improvement of the facilities related to the transportation and access for their residence and social activities. They felt they are inconvenient for the perspective of the implementation rate. Additionally, they had high desire for culture and physical educational activities. Improvements to provide convenient environments where the challenged people can access to and use the facilities as conveniently as unchallenged people do by minimizing the physical hindrances are urgently needed. For time being, many facilities for the challenged people was supplied to improve the physical environments for challenged people, however, foreign regulations had to be adopted for these job due to insufficient date on physical conditions of the challenged people in Korea. Moreover, current facilities for the challenged people emphasized more on physical aspect and the facility itself without the considerations on the overall environments, as result the improvement satisfaction and efficiency were low. More flexible and humane design approaches are needed instead of relying on supply rate and try to fully consider the characteristics of the challenged people without any discrimination.

A study on the Architectural Planning of Spatial Distribution at Dental College Hospital O. P. D

    이희진 , Teuk-Koo Lee | 2006, 12(3) | pp.53~60 | number of Cited : 0
The medicine development and upwardly raised standard of living brings out the increased dental needs at dental hospital OPD. The dental college hospital, follows up the raised dental needs, was subdivided by specialized dental office. And now a specialized dental office needs co-work with the other specialized dental office for special dental illness and treatment. The purpose of this study is to provide a proper area distribution and location of each specialized dental office and relationship between dental office, clinic and other department by analyzing the space, area and characteristics of dental hospital OPD . The results could be used for helping its users, of patients and dentists.
