    진달래 , KIM KWANG HO | 2009, 15(4) | pp.3~11 | number of Cited : 1
As de-schooling students (students who leave schools) have been produced and increased in middle and high schools every year since 1990s, urban alternative schools have founded with Seoul as the center. The objects of such urban alternative schools are de-schooling teenagers, and their educational goal is to make the students to discover their own values and grow as members of the community by accomplishing their healing and growth. Most of students in alternative schools have excessive self-centered feeling than ordinary people, and since they don’t have exchanges with others, they have to receive holistic healing along with education. Here, ‘healing’ is a method of approaching to health through environmental, psychological, social and cultural supports unlike ‘treatment’ used for medical means. Therefore, holistic healing for alternative schools’ students has to accomplish self-knowledge, self-control, and self-healing without repulsion through spaces of healing environments instead of heavy-handed exchanges. This study has integrated a theory of Max Lṻscher who suggested a psychological healing theory in terms of internal character and a theory of Rudolf Steiner who suggested it in terms of practical and holistic sense and analyzed Sungmisan School, one of urban alternative schools in Seoul through the integrated theory. The analysis of the integrated theory are intended to emphasize the importance of healing environments and suggest methods in creating healing environments for urban alternative schools in the future.

    Yeonghwan Lim , Kim Jihwan | 2009, 15(4) | pp.13~21 | number of Cited : 0
Healthcare design is always challenged to come up with the rapid changes in healthcare system and industry as well as complicated planning requirements. This thesis aims to grab good instructions from Louis I Kahn who designed more than 15 healthcare projects during his entire life, from the winning project of the student competition in 1920 to Ayub hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh after his death. His many hospital projects are deeply related to his famous projects such as Yale Art gallery, Philips Exeter Library, and Sher-E-Bangla Nagar national capital of assembly hall. But, it is not easy to find the researches about his hospital projects among many books and theses about him. Thus, this thesis investigates them and their contextual and historical relationships in order to find the way to apply his knowledge and philosophy about healthcare design to the modern hospital projects. We expect that it will promote more following researches for his healthcare projects.

A Study on the Allocation Planning of Community Based Elderly Welfare Facilities

    전성민 , Kwon, Soon-Jung | 2009, 15(4) | pp.33~43 | number of Cited : 2
As a result of rapid aging speed in our society, many problems related to elderly people have happened in many parts of our society. Among them, supply for elderly housing is one of the biggest problems. To solve these problems, ‘long-term care insurance' has been put in operation from July 2008. By the time of the insurance operation, Ministry of Health and Welfare is increasing facilities every year according to ‘10-year expending plan of Care service infra' from 2002. As a result, the supply rate of elderly facilities has been raised. But the differences of facility supply rate between regions are very high in some cases. Therefore older people who need care sometimes cannot get proper care services in some areas. In that case, the frail older people have to use other care facilities of other regions. This is not a proper situation from the point of “Aging in Place". In order to prevent that case, it is necessary to set up proper ‘Daily Living Spheres' and establish elderly care plan for it. Considering the points above, this study proposes the size of ‘Daily Living Spheres’ for the elderly, the kind and amount of elderly care facilities in it for the construction of Community Based Elderly Care System.
