A Study on Barrier - free Certification Evaluation of the Bus Terminals

    강병근 | Taesung Kang | Kim, Sang-Woon and 1other persons | 2016, 22(2) | pp.7~14 | number of Cited : 3
Purpose: Caring for weak person in society, which increases the population of the elderly and people with disabilities is essential. By increasing along with the increase of the use of passenger facilities for travelers and pedestrian is increasing the demand for convenient and secure facilities for everyone. The emerging importance of the passenger-related facilities, but a representative study of the bus terminal facilities is lacking. Bus terminals are the most popular passenger facility. Thus, the bus terminal can be conveniently used by anyone in everyday life, however, the applied elements considering the use of the transportation Poor are not sufficient. Methods: This study was conducted to evaluate BF certification standards targeting bus terminals across the country to determine the availability of the transportation Poor in bus terminal. Result: As a result of the bus Terminal possibility BF certified it appeared to be very low. Also, items received the lowest rating of each item was evaluated in the informative facilities and items. Bus terminal is a facility used by the unspecified individuals, the proportion of first-time user is high, but there is a lack of consideration for the transportation Poor bus terminals. Implications: In the future, this study can guide the next research on the application of BF certification standards in bus terminal. Further studies can be presented to the improvement of the BF certification indicator in bus terminal.

A Study on the Healing Interface around Void space of Contemporary Houses

    Kim, Jinhee | Kim, Kwang Ho | 2016, 22(2) | pp.15~23 | number of Cited : 1
Purpose: Planning space of the house is important as a universal place to relieve stress of contemporary people. Void space is easy to perform mental and cultural programs in aspect of affording the healing behavior. The “Interface” accommodates healing behaviors through mutual interchange between void space and solid space as the edge of the solid space around void space. This study presents a efficient theory of healing space through combining space theory with the Kitwood's theory of psychiatry used for the art therapy. Methods: Spatial elements based on Kitwood's theory converges towards 2 behavioral elements; Meditation(-), Sense of Community(+). Balancing with reciprocal complement between behaviors of passive and stable “Meditation(-)” and active and released “Sense of Community(+)” was analysed. Results: “Faciliation” can be used in combination with “Flow(+)” as active factor. “Validation” is combined with “Prospect(+,-)”, and divides into 2 factor ; “Recognition-Refreshment(-)”, “Reaction-Social Exchange(+)”. “Holding” is combined with “Refuge(-)“ as passive factor. Implications: This study established concept of spatial healing elements in connection with theory of Psychiatry about Alzheimer that is extreme situation of stress. This study is expected to enhance the validity and efficiency in analysis of healing space.

A Study on the Regulation for Type and Design Guideline of Mental Health Service

    Moon, Hani | 윤우용 | Chai, Choulgyun | 2016, 22(2) | pp.25~33 | number of Cited : 0
Purpose : The information of mental health facilities in Korean law is so unclear that people hardly enable to understand what sort of proper mental health service is prepared for them. Futhermore, there is not enough regulation and standard to classify each type of facilities in the law. Therefore the purpose of this study is to provide data on the basis for classification and facility standards by analysing Korean law and policies. Methods : This study was conducted by a research on law and regulation of mental health facility. Results : The result of this study can be summarized into three points. The first one, current law and policy do not reflect a change in community mental health services paradigm. The second one, the classified facility should be designed to fit the community mental health services. The third one, overall, it requires more detailed guidelines to enhance the quality of mental health services. Besides, the treatment as well as the function of the prevention and rehabilitation are necessary criteria that can also be enhanced. Implications : This study looked at the classification and facility standard of mental health facility by the change in community mental health services paradigm. Forward according to these changes, there is a need for specific guidelines for mental health facility.

A Study on Universal Design Guideline of the Urban Railway Station: Transit Zone

    강병근 | Lee, Ju Yeon | 2016, 22(2) | pp.35~44 | number of Cited : 0
Purpose: Recently, Universal design has been applied to a variety of concepts of social integration in the national legislation and institutions, however, the applying to urban railway station is not satisfied. Most of cases, the handicapped can not work continuously, universal design must be provided. Methods: This study derives the detailed criteria through comparing and analyzing an national and international universal design-related system in transit zone. And the status is investigated in transit zone of domestic urban railway station. Improved national standard requirements are derived considering the type of the handicapped and universal design principles. Result: The domestic status shows that the most lacking entry criteria is not specified in national standards or the design is a lowest-level required by criteria through comparing detailed criteria drawn into domestic analysis. Therefore, in order to provide a pedestrian environment to meet the universal design principles and requirements for the handicapped, there is a need to re-establish with a specific national standards. Implications: This study will draw on universal design standards for seamless transfer in transit zone of urban railway station. The next studies are needed to target the overall paths ranging from outside to landing in urban railway station.
