    Abstract PDF
In this paper, we propose how to improve the lack of diversity in collaborative filtering, using tag scores contained in items rather than ratings of items. Collaborative filtering has excellent performance among recommendation system, but it is evaluated as lacking diversity. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a method for supplementing diversity lacking in collaborative filtering by using tags. By using tags that can be used universally without using the characteristics of specific articles in a recommendation system, The proposed method can be used.

    Abstract PDF
This paper presents a structuring process of unstructured social network service (SNS) messages on rail services. We crawl messages about rail services posted on SNS and extract keywords indicating date and time, rail operating company, station name, direction, and rail service types from each message. Among them, the rail service types are classified by machine learning according to predefined rail service types, and the rest are extracted by regular expressions. Words are converted into vector representations using Word2Vec and a conventional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is used for training and classification. For performance measurement, our experimental results show a comparison with a TF-IDF and Support Vector Machine (SVM) approach. This structured information in the database and can be easily used for services for railway users.

Force Arrow: An Efficient Pseudo-Weight Perception Method

    Jun Lee | 2018, 23(7) | pp.49~56 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
Virtual object weight perception is an important topic, as it heightens the believability of object manipulation in immersive virtual environments. Although weight perception can be achieved using haptic interfaces, their technical complexity makes them difficult to apply in immersive virtual environments. In this study, we present a visual pseudo-haptic feedback system that simulates and depicts the weights of virtual objects, the effect of which is weight perception. The proposed method recognizes grasping and manipulating hand motions using computer vision-based tracking methods, visualizing a Force Arrow to indicate the current lifting forces and its difference from the standard lifting force. With the proposed Force Arrow method, a user can more accurately perceive the logical and unidirectional weight and therefore control the force used to lift a virtual object. In this paper, we investigate the potential of the proposed method in discriminating between different weights of virtual objects.

An Improved Method of Guaranteeing Frame Rates of Avionics Simulator based on HMD Motion

    Jeong-Hoon Lee | Jo Yong Il | Kim Kyonghoon | 2018, 23(7) | pp.57~62 | number of Cited : 1
    Abstract PDF
In this paper, we propose an improved algorithm for rendering method to guarantee frame rates based on HMD (Head Mounted Display) motion in an avionics simulator. One of important issues in HMD simulators is to guarantee frame rates despite fast motion of HMD which is more rapid than the aircraft's moving speed to maintain a quality of images. Therefore, we propose an algorithm considering the moving speed of a pilot's head: Improved Speed-Based LOD (Level-Of-Detail) Control (ISBLC). In the proposed algorithm, frame rates are improved by changing dynamic LOD which determines details of objects for rendering images. Throughout the experiments, we show the average frame rates are achieved up to 60 and minimum frame rates are guaranteed up to 40. The proposed algorithms will be used HMD simulation in avionics simulators.

Comparison of the old-old aged women's pants pattern by lower body shape using 3D simulation

    Cha Su Joung | 2018, 23(7) | pp.63~72 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the pants pattern of the lower body of 70-85 aged women. I tried to present excellent pants pattern that is convenient and suitable for the activities of elderly women. Through this, I tried to provide basic data necessary for making elderly women 's pants. As a result of evaluating the appearance of the pants pattern according to the body type, the fit of the type 2 was evaluated as the highest in the item except the position of the front waist line. For the objective evaluation of the 3D simulation, the air gap of the pants by the body part analysis showed that there was not much difference in the air gap around the waist circumference, hip circumference, thigh circumference, and knee circumference by applying the same drawing method and body size. However, in type 2, the air gap of thigh and knee circumference parts was larger than that of type 1 and type 3. Because type 2's legs were thin but it used same size of hemline. It was thought that it is necessary to adjust the space of front and back crotch length to 1 inch (2.54 cm) instead of 1.9 cm (3/4 inch) so that the waistline position of all three types can be set up a little to cover the abdomen. This study was conducted to investigate changes in body shape of elderly women and to develop appropriate pants patterns.

SNA to assess the Influence of Organization Members (Focusing on core members of North Korea)

    Young-Seok Lee | Soungwoong Yoon | Lee Sang Hoon | 2018, 23(7) | pp.73~80 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
There are various organizations in modern society, in which people have direct and indirect relationships. Internal structure of these organizations can be analyzed by the relationships which are officially pressed on the media. However, this task will be difficult when the media information is strictly limited, though the necessity of analyzing organization structure remains. In this study, we try to estimate the influence of North Korea’s core members by using PageRank centrality to supplement the limitation of previous SNA analysis methods. Experimental results show that we can show and predict NK’s power shifts more efficiently.

Scene-based Nonuniformity Correction for Neural Network Complemented by Reducing Lense Vignetting Effect and Adaptive Learning rate

    Gun-hyo No | Yonghee Hong | Jin-ho Park and 1other persons | 2018, 23(7) | pp.81~90 | number of Cited : 1
    Abstract PDF
In this paper, reducing lense Vignetting effect and adaptive learning rate method are proposed to complement Scribner’s neural network for nuc algorithm which is the effective algorithm in statistic SBNUC algorithm. Proposed reducing vignetting effect method is updated weight and bias each differently using different cost function. Proposed adaptive learning rate for updating weight and bias is using sobel edge detection method, which has good result for boundary condition of image. The ordinary statistic SBNUC algorithm has problem to compensate lense vignetting effect, because statistic algorithm is updated weight and bias by using gradient descent method, so it should not be effective for global weight problem same like, lense vignetting effect. We employ the proposed methods to Scribner’s neural network method(NNM) and Torres’s reducing ghosting correction for neural network nuc algorithm(improved NNM), and apply it to real-infrared detector image stream. The result of proposed algorithm shows that it has 10dB higher PSNR and 1.5 times faster convergence speed then the improved NNM Algorithm

Combining Independent Permutation p Values Associated with Mann-Whitney Test Data

    Um, Yonghwan | 2018, 23(7) | pp.99~104 | number of Cited : 1
    Abstract PDF
In this paper, we compare Fisher’s continuous method with an exact discrete analog of Fisher’s continuous method from permutation tests for combining p values. The discrete analog of Fisher’s continuous method is known to be adequate for combining independent p values from discrete probability distributions. Also permutation tests are widely used as alternatives to conventional parametric tests since these tests are distribution-free, and yield discrete probability distributions and exact p values. In this paper, we obtain permutation p values from discrete probability distributions using Mann-Whitney test data sets (real data and hypothetical data) and combine p values by the exact discrete analog of Fisher’s continuous method.

A study on legal service of AI

    park | Sang-Ouk Noe | 2018, 23(7) | pp.105~111 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
Last March, the world Go competition between AlphaGo, AI Go program developed by Google Deep Mind and professional Go player Lee Sedol has shown us that the 4th industrial revolution using AI has come close. Especially, there ar many system combined with AI hae been developing including program for researching legal information, system for expecting jurisdiction, and processing big data, there is saying that even AI legal person is ready for its appearance. As legal field is mostly based on text-based document, such characteristic makes it easier to adopt artificial intelligence technology. When a legal person receives a case, the first thing to do is searching for legal information and judical precedent, which is the one of the strength of AI. It is very difficult for a human being to utilize a flow of legal knowledge and figures by analyzing them but for AI, this is nothing but a simple job. The ability of AI searching for regulation, precedent, and literature related to legal issue is way over our expectation. AI is evaluated to be able to review 1 billion pages of legal document per second and many people agree that lot of legal job will be replaced by AI. Along with development of AI service, legal service is becoming more advanced and if it devotes to ethical solving of legal issues, which is the final goal, not only the legal field but also it will help to gain nation’s trust. If nations start to trust the legal service, it would never be completely replaced by AI. What is more, if it keeps offering advanced, ethical, and quick legal service, value of law devoting to the society will increase and finally, will make contribution to the nation. In this time where we have to compete with AI, we should try hard to increase value of traditional legal service provided by human. In the future, priority of good legal person will be his/her ability to use AI. The only field left to human will be understanding and recovering emotion of human caused by legal problem, which cannot be done by AI’s controlling function. Then, what would be the attitude of legal people in this period? It would be to learn the new technology and applying in the field rather than going against it, this will be the way to survive in this new AI period.

    Tae Ung Yoon | MIN JUNG LEE | 2018, 23(7) | pp.121~129 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
Since 2005, POSCO has been conducting continuous innovation activities using its own innovation methodology, QSS+(Quick Six Sigma Plus). Recently, the effectiveness of QSS+ has been decreased owing to the different needs and purposes for each group. The purpose of this study is to compare the weights of the QSS+ factors using AHP analysis. QSS+ factors consist of two levels. The high level consists of 7 items : ‘Master Plan, Waste Zero Activity, Daily Improvement Activity, Talent Development, Project Activity, Initiative/Encouragement activity’. The low level consists of 3 items ‘5S, My Machine, My M&S’ for Daily Improvement Activity. As a result, we found that there was a difference between the weights of the four groups. We suggest the effective QSS+ directions to improve the quality of POSCO.
