This study aims to explore the meaning of learning in concrete real world situations from the perspective of learners, and to illuminate what learners experience from the view of learning. Especially, this study focuses on learning experience of housewife-students. For this purpose, this study examines housewife-students’ learning experience through qualitative methods such as narrative, interview and participant observation. The result of the study demonstrates as followings.
It can be said that the change that they experienced through their college courses is “the change of identity.” While studying, they lived with joy in everyday life. They experienced “taste of studying” that represents “joy of living,” “something like a rest,” “self-respect,” “self-confidence,” “dreams of future,” “making new relationship,” and “new perception of the world.” They found “another I,” and they had the feeling of fullness. These experiences had an influence on their identity.
The effect of comprehensive changing was reflected on physical, psychological, cognitional changes and a change in social relationship. This study presents that the meaning of learning can be realized as an existence type.
