The purpose of this study was to investigate the co-relationship the tutor’s computer literacy and the competency of the tutor. The tutoring is one of the core learner supports system in the open and cyber universities. The computer literacy of tutor is a important factor to decide the quality of online tutoring. In this study, the elements of the computer literacy are computer skills, internet skills, and information skills. The competency of tutor is a core factor that affect the quality of teaching and learning in distance learning. The competency of tutor consists of cognitive, affective, and systemic competency in this study. The co-relationship of computer literacy and competency of 138 tutors with tutoring experience in KNOU during 2005~2006 was analysed for this study. The result of analysis shows the positive co-relationship of computer literacy and competency of tutor. More skilled tutor in the computer literacy had also higher competency level as a tutor. Especially, the information skills, one of the computer literacy was the core variable to effect the tutor’s competency.
