The study aims to analyze rapid changes in university education and prepare for the future educational environment. The research results of selecting six universities participating in the project, collecting data, and conducting interviews. First, the university has established a staff and organization dedicated to distance education as attempts to secure expertise and proactively respond to changes. Second, the learning disabilities of adult learners in distance education differed depending on digital literacy, so universities made efforts to carefully manage manuals and SNS. Third, quality management of classes varied depending on adult learners’ needs, regions, teaching methods, and the university was under efforts to improve the quality of learning contents in various ways, including teaching training and teaching method contests. At a time when the function of lifelong education and generalization of universities is important, distance education is very useful in that it can provide customized education required for adult learners. In order to prepare for future education in the digital transformation, it is necessary to continue research on the academic management of distance education.
