In the sense that education promotes the continuous progress of human beings, it aims for an identity as a lifelong learner, which is basically linked with the educational philosophy of parents. However, although everyone agrees that parents have a great influence on their children, little attention has been paid to how parenting is being formed in our society at the educational level. Recognizing significance of the social and cultural norms of parenting, this study explores the norms of parenting in the field of lifelong education and construe new principles of parent education through feminist perspective. After the literature review of parenting, this study find three hypothesis of parent education. First, the existing parent education combines the gender imbalance of father/mother (in Korean, the word ‘parent’ is divided into father and mother). Second, reflection and confession on the original parents internalized in parents is the key process of new parenting. And the last, the search for heterogeneous parent communities that the existing parent education misses is the basis of new practice of parenting. This has a meaning as a transitional attempt to re-examine the existing parent education from the perspective of ‘becoming a new parent’ beyond the perspective of role-oriented parent education within the framework of the family.
