Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing

Name of Journal The official name of the Journal is Journal of Lifelong Learning Society 3. Peer Review Process Manuscripts shall be reviewed according to the following process and criteria. 1) Review Process A. The preliminary review shall be conducted by the Board to determine the suitability suitability for the journal in terms of aim and scopes. B. The main review shall be conducted by selecting three reviewers for each manuscript, in a non-disclosed setting. C. Each Reviewer shall describe the review opinions and determine the review result as ①Accept, ②Revise & Resubmit, ③Reject, in accordance with the review criteria for review opinions, and submit such results to the Board. 2) Review criteria A. Degree of reflection of the title in the contents B. Quality of the English (Korean) abstract C. Necessity and logical validity of the research D. Consistency of research topic and research methods E. Validity of presenting, interpreting and discussing the research results F. Contribution and usability of the research results G. Degree of Compliance with the Regulation on Manuscript Writing, such as citations and references H. Quality of the research as a whole 3) The review opinions of the Reviewers shall be disclosed to the author after processing all the opinions in anonymity. 4) If an author does not consent to any review opinion of any reviewer or the comprehensive decision of the Board, he/she may raise an objection to the Board by documenting grounds for such objection. In such case, the Board conducts a re-deliberation and informs the results to the author. 4. Ownership and Management The journal is owned by the publisher, the Institute of Future Distance Education(IFDE). 5. Editorial Committee The editorial board shall be composed as follows: ① The editorial board (hereinafter referred to as the Board) shall consist of twelve members or less including the editor-in-chief and the Director of the Institute of Future Distance Education of the Korea National Open University, with the Director of the IFDE participating as an ex officio member. ② The editor-in-chief shall be appointed by the President of the Korea National Open University on the recommendation of the Director of the IFDE, the Board members shall be appointed by the editor-in-chief, and the person in charge of the concerned affairs shall assume the role of the executive secretary. ③ The members shall be appointed taking into account the research achievements, expertise, and assertiveness: Provided, That the members shall be distributed nation wide and not concentrated in specific areas. 6. Copyright and Licencing Copyright to all published material is owned by the Institute of Future Distance Education. All authors should agree to the copyright transfer during the submission process. 8. Article Processing Charges 1) Review fee: 90,000 KRW (※ Review fee will be informed individually after the preliminary review.) 2) Publication fee - 150,000 KRW will be charged for a paper not supported by a research grant. - 300,000 KRW will be charged for a paper supported by a research grant. ※ Manuscripts should basically be 25 pages long and those exceeding this should pay additional fees of 20,000 KRW per page. 9. Process for Identification of and Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct 1) Composition and Operation of Research Ethics Committee The Research Ethics Committee shall be composed of no more than five members including the chairperson of the Committee and Committee Members. 2) Reporting and Judgment of Violation of Research Ethics ① Reports on violations of research ethics shall be submitted to the Chairperson, editor-in-chief, or Board members by disclosing the identity and contact information of the informant and attaching relevant data in writing, e-mail or other possible means. ② When a report of an ethics violation is received, the Chairperson shall convene the Committee within 3 weeks and deliberate and make a decision within 50 days. 3) Sanctions for Violation of Research Ethics Depending on the severity of the case, the Committee shall take measures such as 'written warning,' 'prohibition of submission for 3 to 5 years,' 'cancellation of publication and removal from the list of published papers,' 'notification to the person's affiliation and the Korea Research Foundation,' etc. and the results shall be announced on the website of the Journal. 10. Publication Ethics 1) Author(s) of the Journal shall comply with the following ethical obligations. ① Author(s) shall be truthful in inventing research ideas, carrying out the research, obtaining the research results, etc. ② Author(s) shall ensure not to commit any violation of the research ethics. ③ Author(s) shall respect the intellectual property rights of others and not infringe such rights. ④ Author(s) shall conduct conscientious research and contribute to the development of society. 2) In this Journal, 'research misconducts' such as plagiarism, unfair authorship, forgery, falsification, duplicate publication, and other misconduct shall be considered as violations of research ethics, where each behavior means the following: ① The term 'Plagiarism' refers to the arbitrary use of the intellectual property of others without proper authorization or citation. ② The term 'Unfair authorship' refers to cases where the authors inappropriately considering the level of contribution to the process of writing a paper. ③ The term 'Forgery' refers to the act of falsely creating a research process or result without being based on the facts. ④ The term 'Falsification' refers to cases of artificially manipulating or altering the research conducting method, research data results, etc. in the research process. ⑤ The term 'Duplicate publication' refers to cases of a paper with the same contents in to or more journals. ⑥ The term 'Other misconduct' refers to actions that seriously deviate from the generally accepted scope of research ethics other than the research misconducts defined above. 11. Publishing Schedule The Academic Journal shall be published four (4) times a year, on February 28, May 31, August 31 and November 30. 12.
