Analysis of Perception Difference in R&D Planning and Evaluation Following Characteristics of Convergence Researcher: Focused on Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science and Technology Majors and Areas

    DAEHWAN KIM | 2018, 2(1) | pp.5~28 | number of Cited : 1
    Abstract PDF
This study focuses on the differences of the researchers’ perception in the process of convergence research. In particular, it is assumed that the gap between the researchers in the implementation and evaluation stages has a significant influence on the stage of finding a theme for convergence research. Specific details are as follows. First, we examine the heterogeneity between disciplines through the conceptual definition of concepts and types of convergence research by reviewing previous studies related to convergence research. Second, we analyze differences in the researchers’ perceptions about obstacles that occur in the convergence research process. Third, the factors for promoting convergence research will be derived through this process, and future convergence research directions will be presented. Fourth, we intend to emphasize the importance of cooperation and interest among researchers by presenting appropriate directions for the planning, performance and evaluation of convergence research.

    Su-Jeong Lee | Lee, Moo-Sik | LIM HYO NAM and 1other persons | 2018, 2(1) | pp.29~44 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
This study analyzed the general characteristics, hospitalization characteristics, treatment outcome characteristics, number of days of hospitalization, and non-coverage of the elderly patients over 65 years of age. A total of 2,619 patients were selected from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 by using K hospital’s medical record team’s discharge record summary information. The results of the analysis of the elderly patients showed that the top 5 diagnoses were chemoradiotherapy (Z51) for 930 patients (35.5%), cataract (H26) for 570 patients (21.8%), angina pectoris (I20) for 455 patients (17.4%), 381 patients (14.5%) with pneumonia (J18) and 283 patients (10.8%) with cerebral infarction (I63). In general characteristics, non-covered medical expenses were higher for health insurance patients than for uncovered medical expenses, and hospitalization characteristics and treatment outcome characteristics were higher than uncovered medical expenses for emergency patients and surgical patients. In conclusion, we were able to deduce from the results of this study that in order to control the increase in the uncovered medical expenses of hospitalized patients, it is possible to manage the number of days of hospitalization reasonably and manage it appropriately considering the personal characteristics of patients such as severity and death.

Relationship Between Academic Stress and College Life Adaptation for Dental Hygiene Students: Focus on Self-efficacy, Burnout, Social Support

    Ji-Yeon Oh | Jong-Hwa Jang | 2018, 2(1) | pp.45~58 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
The purpose of this study is to investigate the academic stress, self efficacy, burn out, social support and college life adaptation of dental hygiene students and their correlations with related factors influencing college life adaptation. A total of 265 students were selected as stratified sampling methods at the universities in which the department of dental hygiene was established nationwide. From September 1, 2015 to October 22, 2015, the self report questionnaire was used. The main variables were college life adaptation, academic stress, self efficacy, burn out, social support, and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. College life adaptation was 5.17 out of 9 points, academic stress was 2.88 points out of 6 points, self efficacy, burn out, and social support were 3.35, 2.60, and 3.54 out of 5, each respectively. Self efficacy and stress due to task and class were significant influences on individual-emotional adaptation in college life adaptation. In the case of college environment adaptation, exhaustion, self efficacy and social support were significant influencing factors. In the case of social adaptation, self efficacy and social support were significant influencing factors. Overall, academic stress and college life adaptation were closely related, and social psychological factors such as burn out, self efficacy and social support were mediated. Therefore, it is suggested that it should be applied to college education in order to increase adaptation of dental hygiene students, to reduce academic stress and burn out, and to develop intervention strategies that can enhance self efficacy and social support.

The Relationships Between Migration-related Stress and Vascular Hemodynamic Factors Based on Migration Duration

    Changho Lee | Gee-Hee Kim | Yun Sung Jo and 1other persons | 2018, 2(1) | pp.59~67 | number of Cited : 0
    Abstract PDF
Migration is a very stress-inducing phenomenon. During the migration process, an overreaction of the autonomic nervous system due to a chronic, unexpected, or non-modifiable stressor can precipitate cardiovascular dysregulation. However, the effect of migratory stress on cardiovascular disease remains unclear. The study population consisted of migrant subjects who were seen at Ansan Vincent’s Free Clinic between July 2004 and January 2008. Among subjects who were interviewed by a social worker, 510 (282 males, mean age 42±12 years) were enrolled in this study. Men were more frequently employed than women (p<0.0001). The most common reasons for presenting to the clinic were orthopedic problems (24.8%), followed by respiratory problems (14%), including the common cold. The patients were divided into two migration groups based on a period of three years. The incidence of HBP between the two groups was similar. After adjusting for cardiovascular risk factors, the migration period correlated with SBP [β =1.066, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.013-1.122, p=0.014] and PP (β=1.057, 95% CI 1.010-1.107, p=0.016). In conclusion, migrants with cardiovascular disease have a risk factor of developing vascular change resulting from disturbances caused by differences in repetitive, social and cultural stimuli. Further studies are required to confirm this.

Suggestion of Policy through Analysing Performance of Humanities and Social Science based Interdisciplinary Convergence Research

    Younghee Noh | Kwanghee Lee | Daekeun Jeong | 2018, 2(1) | pp.69~97 | number of Cited : 2
    Abstract PDF
The purpose of this study is to present policy directions for the interdisciplinary convergence research support projects by analyzing the results of the interdisciplinary convergence research support projects and comparing them with the results of other research and development support projects. Analyzing the results of the interdisciplinary convergence research projects showed that first, academic achievement and manpower performance showed high performance, whereas the intellectual property rights performance and industrial support performance were very low. Second, the results of the convergence research are shown in terms of public participation and public relations, convergence researcher network. Third, quantitative results of academic journals outperformed other R&D support projects, but the quality index of the Impact Factor (IF) was low. Fourth, the subsequent generations of scholars showed higher performance than other R&D support projects. Fifth, intellectual property (patent) rights performance and industrial support performance were very low compared to other R&D support projects. Through these, the policy suggestions are as follows: First, it is necessary to expand the research support project through the allocation of additional budget, because it provides high-quality results in line with the purpose of the interdisciplinary convergence research project. Second, it is necessary to further expand the research stage to create intellectual property right performance and industrial support performance. Third, it is necessary to develop a model that can develop a performance index suitable for humanities and social sciences interdisciplinary convergence research projects and model the effectiveness of the various outcomes generated during the research process.
