The extraction of robust feature points from images is one of the fundamental operations required in image processing. Among the kinds of salient point, as corner in image contains local features, it is used to achieve image recognition, image registration, and object tracking etc. Hence, extracting corners accurately is significant to image processing as well as constructing an efficient and effective image processing system. Harris corner detection algorithm, among many corner detection algorithms, is well known for extracting robust corners. It is used to improve feature description algorithms such as Scale-invariant feature transform(SIFT) and Speeded Up Robust Feature(SURF). It is also employed in the development of various image processing applications such as object segmentation, object tracking, image recognition, and image registration etc. Therefore, a lot of research has been conducted to improve the Harris corner detection algorithm. In this paper, we proposed a technique which can extract salient points efficiently by analysing wavelet subbands of wavelet-tansformed image. Experiments were performed using Lena image and they showed that the proposed technique produces more rapidly than Harris corner detection algorithm does.
The number of automobiles in 1945, the first year of our country’s automobile legislation system, was 7000 and as at the end of last month 2015, it exceeded 20 million. Recently, automobiles, which used to be luxuries in the past, have now become daily necessities. Despite such changes in status of automobiles, however, the information related to automobile maintenance is obtained mostly through consultation with specialized companies and Internet. The shortage of information related to automobile maintenance has become a serious hindrance to the efficiency of vehicle management and safety operation. This paper proposes a mobile system that provides vehicle management information in advance based on the mileage of personal automobiles. The system proposed in this research provides the users periodically with vehicle management information based on the two factors: vehicle mileage and time. To do this, first the evaluation of the time of vehicle management based on the mileage is conducted and then the evaluation information is divided into three stages and the vehicle management grade information is provided to the users periodically. Such vehicle management information is expected to be used very effectively to the areas such as preventing accidents in safety driving caused by inappropriate pre-inspection of vehicle safety management and vehicle supplies management.
Transparent tablets have been introduced a lot of SF movies and the concept videos for future technologies. There have been researches on user interface for transparent mobile devices, but only a few researches on the implementation of the devices have been introduced. In this paper, we introduce how we develop our transparent tablet, which consists of a transparent LCD and Raspberry PI 2. This tablet is a mobile device, so that it should be small and light enough to be carried in everyday life. Furthermore, it should support the applications which run on the traditional tablets, and applications which are designed for the specific features of transparent tablets. The applications of transparent tablets are classified into three groups according to their adaptability: level 0, level 1, and level 2. The applications in "level 0" and "level 1" can provide unique services for transparent tablets, but applications in "level 2" should have the supports from hardware and system software. Applications in "level 1", such as drawing application, can be used for transparent tablets with "overlay" interaction without any modification by changing its usage scenario. Therefore, the development of usage scenarios for "level 1" and "level 2" will be the key point for the practical usefulness of transparent mobile devices.
In this paper, we propose a new conceptual design of a character education system for children with developmental disability. The designed system represents characters in a form of intaglio so that the children with developmental disability can follow the intaglio printing with their finger pad during character education. To show engrave pattern on a display area of the character education system, we design a hexagon cells array which can be independently actuated along vertical direction. Each cell consists of an actuation part, a contact plate, a locking part, and a housing. Due to the actuation part, each cell can be moved up and down. The locking part is incorporated into the proposed system in order to minimize the power consumption. The contact plate is used for interaction with a human finger pad. In order to investigate the actuation force, we conducted the FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation. The simulation result shows that the actuation force large enough to lift or to fall the corresponding cell. The interference between an actuator and its neighbor is also simulated, and the result shows that interference is small enough to be ignored. If the character education system based on the proposed conceptual design is commercialized, it will be useful to children with developmental disability.
This paper suggests a learning system to learn programming using Arduino. For this study, learning elements to be used in Arduino programming were extracted, based on the general programming concept to create learning contents and a N-screen based learning system optimized for learning these contents was designed. In order to verify the effectiveness of the learning system suggested, a survey on the understanding of problem-solving capability domains and programming and the change of interest was conducted with learners, who learned programming using this learning system and those that learned programming using a general method. The study result showed that the average post-test score was significantly higher than the average pre-test score in the group that learned programming using the system developed in this study. This implies that problem-solving capabilities of learners can improve by using the learning contents of this system. Also, the program aroused learners' interest, the will to develop a program to solve problems in real life rose and they replied that they wanted to study programming more deeply. This demonstrates that the learning system of this study can be effective in stimulating a voluntary will to learn, developing creativity and improving flexible thinking.
As the number of IoT devices increases, the IoT node management server requires more processing power. Plus, the server should manage more connection links and data at the same time to answer to its clients. This causes heavy loads to the server. Therefore, it is required to deploy IoT node management system with high-speed back-end server techniques. One of concurrent server techniques supporting multiple clients is Vert.x which can overcome scalability problem of multi-thread WAS (Web Application Server) such as Tomcat. In this paper, we proposed and implemented an IoT node management algorithm and system model based on Vert.x framework. The proposed system uses Vert.x framework to make it possible to manage and handle IoT devices and their data more quickly when compared with general multi-thread server techniques, because Vert.x is a high-speed back-end server platform. Plus, the proposed system is designed to make it possible for IoT devices to automatically register and communicate with IoT agent server. Our implementation results show that it is possible to manage IoT devices and their data quickly and automatically without human intervention.
This study constructs instruction ontology regarding knowledge of instructional strategy using the authoring tool. We applied constructed ontology to instructional design of teacher’s college student in Korea. Effects of instruction designing are analyzed through open questionnaires. This study found that instructional designing, offered by this study, instructional design made systematic and concrete. The respondents said that the system is very positive in that it makes instructional design easy and rich in content. It is suggested that the instructional designing method supported by this instruction ontology is more useful for beginner teachers and pre-service teachers who are not familiar with instructional strategy and lack experience in education field. The ontology construction of the instructional strategy should extend the stored instruction ontology practically and diversely to help users instructional design more effectively and more easily. The gap between the constructed ontology and the instruction should be narrowed to match more easily. This study contributes to developing a tool supporting a new instruction strategy, applying a new instruction method to pre-service teachers and analyzing its effects. However, It is suggested that instructional design could be builded in short of the designer’s creativity. Also, we need various and flexible applications in accordance with learning objectives.
The ICT(Information and Communications Technologies) industry is recognised as an important growth engine for the national economy in that it could enhance the efficiency of enterprises and also improve the productivity of other industries. With the growing importance of ICT industry this study estimates and decomposes productivity changes into technical efficiency and technological change for the ICT industry in Korea and suggest implications to improve the productive efficiency. Unlike most previous studies using radial DEA models, the present study applies a non-radial Malmquist index which can deal directly with input excesses and output shortfalls. For the empirical analysis a panel data covering a period of six years from 2008 to 2013 is collected. The input variables are number of workers and capital. The gross output is used as the output variable. The empirical results show that the productivity of ICT industry has increased mainly due to improvement in technical efficiency rather than technological change. This implies that ICT industry development strategies should be implemented in order to improve productive efficiency as well as to strengthen technological innovation capability. It is expected that the findings of this study can be used in practice to enhance the competitiveness of ICT industry.
