    The Development of Gun-Shaped VR Haptic Controller and Virtual Environment Application for Immersive First Person Shooting Game

    In this paper, we propose a gun-shaped VR haptic controller and an immersive First Person Shooting (FPS) game based on the haptic controller. The proposed VR haptic controller is composed of a bluetooth module for remote communication, a vibration motor for tactile feedback, an inertial measurement unit for motion recognition, a microprocessor, an input button, a battery. The proposed gun-shaped VR haptic controller enables remote communication with virtual environment applications in real-time. Furthermore, the proposed controller generates haptic information and conveys it to user in real-time when he/she shoots a gun in virtual reality game. We inserted two vibrotactile actuators : one is mounted inside the rail cover and the other one is embedded in the vertical handle of the controller in consideration of the position of the user's two hands in order to maximize the haptic effect. In addition, the proposed VR haptic controller has an inertial measurement unit so that the viewpoint of the virtual camera in the game application is changed according to the tilt of the VR haptic controller. In this paper, the objective of virtual haptic game is to kill zombies using the proposed gun-shaped haptic controller. When a character in a virtual game fires a bullet to a zombie, the gun-shaped haptic controller provides a realistic tactile sensation to a user. Therefore, the proposed FPS game is expected to create rich sensations (visual, auditory, and haptic feeling) and to immersively interact with virtual game through a gun-shaped VR haptic controller.

    Indoor Plants Image Classification Using Deep Learning and Web Application for Providing Information of Plants

    Plants have good effects such as air purification and landscaping, but they have special ingredients to protect themselves. Ingredients made to protect the plant itself can harm people or animals. There are also accidents that are mistaken for other plants with similar plant features. We have implemented a program that can identify plants and display information about each plant. Using deep learning to classify images, we created a web application that predicts plant names and displays information that matches the predicted plants. We created a data set of 61 indoor plants using Google Image Search. The positive effects and negative toxicity of indoor plants are summarized in the database. Deep learning is implemented using fast.ai, a Pytorch-based framework. Through data Augmentation, we increased the number of images to learn. Indoor plant image data were trained using ResNet50, a pretrained model using various images. The accuracy of the model was about 97.5%, which predicted most plants accurately. The web application was implemented using flask, a Python-based web framework. Using the implemented image classification deep learning model, the plant name is predicted and the information corresponding to the predicted plant name is displayed on the web page. The web application can be optimized for mobile devices and used conveniently.

    The Immediate Effect of Olfactory Stimulation Using Black Pepper Oil Combined with Sour-bolus Solution on Suprahyoid Muscle Activation in Stroke Patients with Dysphagia

    The aim of this study was to investigate the immediate effect of olfactory stimulation using black pepper oil (BPO) combined with sour bolus solution on suprahyoid muscle activation in stroke patients with dysphagia. Twelve stroke patients with dysphagia participated in this study. For all subjects, the suprahyoid muscle activation was measured using surface electromyography (sEMG) during swallowing of four types. Prior to measurement, one of the following four stimulations were applied: odorless+distilled water (ODW), odorless+sour bolus (OSB), black pepper oil+distilled water (BPODW), black pepper oil+sour bolus (BPOSB). The order of swallowing of four types was random, and the subjects swallowed three times for each sensory stimulation, with a rest period of 5 min after finishing each sensory stimulation. Repeated measure ANOVA was used to calculate the mean and maximum values of suprahyoid muscle activation with four sensory stimulations from sEMG. while OSB and BPOSB had a significant effect on mean and maximum values of suprahyoid muscle activation, ODW and BPODW did not have a significant effect (p<.05). The olfactory stimulation using BPO combined with sour bolus solution or sensory stimulation using sour bolus solution may have a positive effect the improvement of suprahyoid muscle strength in stroke patients with dysphagia.

    A Study on the Relationship Between Hoare Logic and Curry-Howard Correspondence

    The relation between computer programs and mathematical logic is well known, Although one can easily find comments on the relationship when one reads books and articles about computer programming, it is difficult to find proper materials explaining the relationship in a scientific manner. Nevertheless, people used to mention how important the relationship between computer programs and mathematical logic is. The problem is that it is more focused on the fact that how helpful it is to learn one area in learning the other area. However, there is more than that between computer programs and mathematical logic. In this paper, we introduce some researches about the relationship and show different and common aspects of them. In particular, Hoare logic and Curry-Howard correspondence is compared. Hoare logic was invented for rigorous verification of programs in a C-like imperative programming language, while Curry-Howard correspondence explains the relationship between functional programming language like Haskell and mathematical logic. We show that Hoare logic and Curry-Howard correspondence are essentially the same in the sense that they represent the same things just in different manners. We close the paper with some remarks about Hoare logic and the Curry-Howard correspondence and ideas of further research with respect to teaching and learning programming languages in the university level based on the relationship between logic and programming.

    Development of the Deep Learning System for Bird Classification Using Birdsong

    The activity and distribution of wild birds are biological indicators to evaluate biodiversity. In order to identify bird habitats, collecting and classifying sounds should have to do. Using the bird sound can make easier to distinguish location or type of wild birds. Recently, attempts to analyze bioacoustic data have been risen using the machine learning. We are going to classify the bird songs using deep learning. The bird songs convert into the spectrogram images. Spectrogram images are used for the input of convolutional neural network. In generally the bird song data set for classification contains a lot of noise. Even obtaining the data including noise is difficult. The data is about 200 bird sounds of 20 species. Based on transfer learning, ResNet34, ResNet50 and AlexNet of Convolutional Neural Network are used as the experiment. The experiment parameter is learning rate and epochs. As a result, the ResNet34 shows the highest accuracy of 99.7% and an average of 93% in the test. Therefore, In this paper, we are going to develop the deep learning system that classifies 20 kinds of bird song using ResNet34. By using this system, it can be helpful various activities such as the prevention of avian influenza.

    A Critical Perspective Investigation of Perception and Usage on Thermal-Tactile Stimulation Using CHAID

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and usage of thermal-tactile stimulation using ice stick used in dysphagia rehabilitation. This study surveyed occupational therapists and stroke patients with dysphagia through a convenience sample. The collected questionnaires were 79 occupational therapists and 88 stroke patients. The data were used for statistical analysis. As a result, the equipment used by occupational therapists for thermal-tactile stimulation treatment was ice stick with the highest proportion of 88.6%. Thermal-tactile stimulation using ice sticks was positively recognized by occupational therapists in 67.1% and 48.1% of the effects and satisfaction of stroke patients with dysphagia. Stroke patients with dysphagia such as discomfort of dysphagia, long meal time, and aspiration symptom knew significantly more about the reasons for dysphagia rehabilitation using ice sticks than stroke patients without severe swallowing problems. Occupational therapists, who perceived thermal-tactile stimulation using ice sticks as 'be of help', responded that thermal-tactile stimulation using ice sticks was 'need'. Stroke patients receiving thermal-tactile stimulation using ice sticks for more than 5 to 20 minutes indicated that therapy using ice sticks were 'be of help'. The results of our study can be used as a basis for further intervention and further studies on thermal-tactile stimulation using ice sticks.

    A Study on the Reliability Assessment Platform of CPS Software in Medical Domain

    The CPS (Cyber Physical System) market is rapidly developing with the establishment and implementation of vitalization measures and participation of major companies worldwide, and the global CPS market is expected to grow 7.2% annually, reaching about $2.3 trillion by 2020. While CPS is the direction in which software should be developed, the domestic CPS standard is in the planning and development stage. Because the CPS reliability standards are not clear, software developers are not being recognized in Korea. Therefore this paper studies the CPS reliability assessment platform with a focus on the medical field. This paper applies Trustworthy Concerns among enterprise IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) guidelines and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) CPS frameworks to evaluate systems in the medical area, and studies the ability to compare and evaluate similar valuations through Similar Factor evaluation methods. Since then, the medical system has been applied to the medical domain CPS assessment platform to conduct a standard evaluation of the actual medical system. As a result, the DEC standard received 68 reliability points and 66 equivalence points with the ACM standard. Using the medical domain CPS assessment platform proposed in this paper can facilitate the evaluation of the reliability of the system in an era when complex CPS development is accelerated. Thus, the medical domain CPS assessment platform can provide high reliability to customers presenting the system, help engineers develop the system, and be a useful platform for evaluators evaluating it.

    A Study on the Reasons for the Appearance of ‘Vintech’ and its Problems

    This paper outlined the concept of 'Vintech,' a new financial method that emerged in the wake of the economic downturn. The study was conducted to address social phenomena by paying attention to consumer spending patterns. According to the report, "AppTech," which makes pocket money from original fintech, has met social phenomena and has become a means for poor young people to take new allowances. The combination of technology and social phenomena has led to the emergence of "vintech," and as science and technology develops, its kind and methods are expected to be endless. The ashtray has already led to a variety of vintech types, joining many companies. We believe that each type of problem exists, but the solutions presented will be realistic and manageable. In addition, although Vintech originated in Japan, Japan's fintech service is a market of opportunity for Korean companies with advanced services because of its slower development compared to other advanced countries. Using the growth power of the local fintech market as a springboard, one can expect to develop technologies through convergence with various information industry sectors such as AI, big data and blockchain, and also think about the future re-tech method.

    Standardization of Pressure for Chin-Tuck and Jaw-Opening Using Laryngeal Elevation Strengthening Device in Healthy Adults

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the standardization values of pressure for the chin-tuck and the jaw-opening using laryngeal elevation strengthening device. One hundred thirty-seven healthy adults (20s~≥80s) without neurological disease participated in this study. All subjects were measured by laryngeal elevation strengthening device during the chin-tuck and the jaw-opening. The measurement was performed three times for each task, and the order of the chin-tuck and jaw-opening was balanced to eliminate the order effect. The value calculated the peak pressure and the mean pressure. Statistical analysis was performed using independent t test and Pearson's correlation analysis. As a result, there was no significant difference between age and gender on the peak and mean values of the chin-tuck (p>.05). The peak and average values of the the jaw-opening pressure were significantly higher in males than females (p<.05). There was a significant negative correlation between age, the chin-tuck and the jaw-opening pressure. (p<.05). There was a significant positive correlation between the pressure of the chin-tuck and the jaw-opening. The reference values of chin-tuck and jaw-opening were found in healthy adults. These results can be helpful for efficient evaluation and training when conducting chin-tuck and jaw-opening exercises using the laryngeal elevation strengthening device in the clinic.

    A Study on the Safety Assessment Process in End Effector Based on Brake Override System

    As the development of various technologies and many studies underway, Medical Robots are used to treat various areas of treatment as they help in performing surgery. In particular, Surgical Robots, which account for the majority of Medical Robots, have diversified surgical operations and are actively conducting safety studies. However, safety accidents on End Effectors are frequent due to the inadequate control of the surgeon in charge of using Surgical Robots. The importance of FLS(Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Sugar) was then emphasized for Surgical Robots, a test that increased the proficiency of their physicians based on End Effectors. End Effector means a device that is typically attached to the end of the Surgical Robot to perform the required operation. Currently, the End Effector of the Surgical Robot is not immediately capable of handling accidents because the physician in charge must press the emergency stop button manually. In comparison, among systems related to cars, traffic and roads, the process of Brake Override System in which the functions of the parts operate first, regardless of human control. Thus, this paper study the process of automating the shutdown method of End Effector by utilizing the Safety Assessment Items of existing Surgical Robots and Processes of FLS, Brake Override System.

    Verification of Discussion Effect according to Learner's Introvert-Extrovert and Smartphone Addiction Degree

    The purpose of this research is to find the effect of introvert-extrovert and smartphone addiction degree on the discussion participation pattern. The research data was collected from the 56 learners. The data was analyzed through two-way analysis of variance. The results of this research were summarized as follows : Firstly, introvert-extrovert affects discussion participation pattern interactive response and commentary dimension. Introvert group was more effective than extrovert group in the discussion participation pattern interactive response and commentary dimension. Secondly, smartphone addiction degree affects discussion participation pattern interactive response and commentary dimension. The general user group was more effective than the smartphone addiction group in the discussion participation pattern interactive response and commentary dimension. Thirdly, the interaction between introvert-extrovert and smartphone addiction affects discussion participation pattern interactive response and commentary dimension. The introvert group and the general user group were found to have the greatest effect on the pattern of discussion participation interactive response and commentary dimension. fourthly, introvert-extrovert affects discussion participation pattern cognitive dimension. Introvert group was more effective than extrovert group in the discussion participation pattern cognitive dimension. fifthly, smartphone addiction degree affects discussion participation pattern cognitive dimension. The general user group was more effective than the smartphone addiction group in the discussion participation pattern cognitive dimension. Based on these research results, it was suggested that introvert-extrovert and smartphone addiction degree should be considered in order to improve the discussion outcomes and effect.

    An Effective Last-Level Cache Replacement and Bypass Policy Using Hit Count

    Caching techniques are fundamental for bridging the performance gap between components in a computer system, such as the performance of processor and memory. To get more performance out of the cache hierarchy, processors will rely on effective cache replacement policies. Variability in generational behavior of cache blocks is a key challenge for cache replacement policies that aim to identify less reused blocks as early and accurately as possible to maximize the cache efficiency. Existing processors use variants of LRU policy to determine replacement targets. But, there is a big gap between what LRU policy provides and what the optimal replacement policy provides by Belady's MIN. In this paper, we observed that the number of hits of a block is similar to the average number of hits when previously residing in the cache. This observation is used to improve the efficiency of the LLC through a low cost but effective replacement policy. With little overhead, the proposed policy is an effective replacement policy that associates a predicted hit count to a block and evicts the block to have fewer remaining hits in the future. Also, blocks that are predicted as non-reusable blocks are bypassed to improve the cache efficiency. The proposal provides a 5.8% miss reduction and a 4.8% performance improvement over baseline LRU.

    Analysis of Anti-inflammatory Effect on Odorless Korea Propolis

    Biological properties of propolis vary with chemical composition, plant sources, geographic area and seasons. Flavonoids, which are the most important substances of propolis, have physiologically active functions such as boost immunity, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anticancer. Propolis has been shown to be rejected by consumers due to its unique strong odor and color, so in this study, anti-inflammatory effects for NO and inflammation-related cytokines such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) production were identified using propolis that effectively eliminated odors and the functionality for the effect was studied. As a result of measuring the rate of decrease of NO concentration, propolis and odorless propolis showed no decrease in concentration of 1μg/ml compared with the control, but showed significant decrease of about 74% at concentration of 10μg/ml. At a concentration of 10μg/ml of propolis, IL-1β production was reduced by about 49% and at a concentration of 10μg/ml of odorless propolis, IL-1β production was reduced by about 36% compared with the control. IL-6 production showed a decrease of about 66% and 43% at concentrations of 10μg/ml of propolis and odorless propolis, respectively, compared with the control. TNF-α production showed a decrease of about 62% and 60% at concentrations of 10μg/ml of propolis and odorless propolis, respectively, compared with the control. Based on these research results, it is expected to develop propolis material that has anti-inflammatory function and removes odors and to be used to applied to the development of health functional food technology.

    The Effects of Short-Term Intensive Mind Subtraction Meditation Program on Blood Chemistry Indicators and Blood Pressure in Adults Using a Paired-Difference Test: Pilot Study

    This study examined the effects of a short-term intensive Mind Subtraction meditation program on adults’ blood chemistry and blood pressure. Twenty-eight adults participated in a short-term intensive mediation program for 4 days and 5 nights. In this study, the effects of 27-hours meditation training were measured. The subjects of study were healthy adults who continued meditation training for more than a year, and consisted in 9 male and 19 female, whose average age was 47.86. The collected data were analyzed using paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed rank test in SPSS 24.0. The results showed that the indicators of kidney function (blood urea nitrogen and creatinine; BUN/Crt) and total cholesterol were significantly decreased after completing the meditation program. Diastolic blood pressure was significantly decreased in the normal blood pressure group, and systolic blood pressure was decreased in the elevated blood pressure group with basal systolic blood pressure above 120mmHg. In men, the enzyme which reflects liver damage or chronic inflammation, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (γ-GTP) also significantly decreased. Based on these results, Mind Subtraction Meditation may have a positive effect on clinical chemistry indicators and blood pressure in adults. In the future, it is suggested that more detailed scientific studies be conducted to investigate the effects of this type of meditation on physical health and disease prevention.

    The Effects of Startup Characteristics on Innovation Capability – Focusing on the Partnerships with Public Enterprises

    The role of startups is being highlighted as a way to cope with rapid changes of business environment. The core of startups embraces technical innovation and agility, and their role in the related industries will be stressed further in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This study aims to review the factors which impact innovation capability from two aspects. Firstly, the innovation capability which socialization process and relationship learning between startups and public enterprises impact have been studied in a perspective of social exchange theory, and how the internal property of startups affects innovation capability with absorptive capacity has been reviewed thereafter. To this end, this study covers an empirical analysis by conducting a questionnaire focused on startups which have experienced the cooperation with Korean public enterprises, and it is assured that six hypotheses proposed were entirely adopted. Their implications are as follows. This study shows the socialization process, which the active discussion has been insufficient in the business-to-business studies, and presents that factors of relationship learning between startups and public enterprises could have positive impacts on the absorptive capacity of startup internal members.
