Toward New and Adoptable Methods and Viewpoints to Goryeo-gayo Texts Yim, Ju-tak There is constant controversy concerning the theory of Goryeo-gayo, a Korean Middle Song. It comes from the difference of researchers's viewpoints and methods adopted to texts of Goryeo-gayo. So I investigated especially the notion that they are made of folksongs in the certain contexts and debated about its merits or demerits, because that notion has widely-adapted by researchers. Thus I found three problems; that the researchers have not examined real texts but examined imaginary ones, that they have neglected grammar of the lingual texts and that have not proved extra-lingual texts to the bottom. The problems resulted from uniting Popularism and New Criticism. With some results of researches concerning three problems, I proposed a meaningful and reasonal viewpoint and method for Goryeo-gayo and its texts. I wish that this paper should be helpful to arrive at conclusions by mutual agreement. Keywords: Korean Literature, Korean Middle Song, Goryeo-gayo(高麗歌謠), real and imaginary texts, lingual and extra-lingual texts, Popularism, New Criticism

    Abstract PDF
Establishment of Yongnam Gadan(嶺南歌壇) and its succession Kwon, Du-Hwan The aim of the study was to probe into the establishment of the Gadan(歌壇) in the Youngnam(嶺南) area and the process of its development. As a result of the study, the existence of a Gadan(歌壇) featuring Nongam(聾巖) in the Gyungbook(慶北) Yeaan area was proved. The appropriateness of using the recently named 'Bungang Gadan(汾江歌壇)' instead of formerly suggested 'Yongnam Gadan(嶺南歌壇)' was approved. The need of the study of subdivisions in the Yongnam(嶺南) area and the possibility of the existence of Gadans in each subdivision was suggested. The future studies would help interpreting and explaining in depth the historical process of the development of Korean Siga(詩歌) and would be a way to manifest the significance of Bungang Gadan(汾江歌壇) in the history of Korean literature.
