AB - This study attempts to derive the necessity and effects of study circles and the direction for their future improvement by understanding the current operation situation of study circles by the librarian who are in charge of school libraries and their perception about the study circle activities. For this purpose, those in charge of school libraries in 25 Offices of Education Support in Gyeonggi-Do were surveyed by telephone interview regarding the operation of study circles by the school librarians. Survey analysis and in-depth interview were conducted particularly focusing on Suwon region where the school librarians turned out to be most actively involved in the study circle activities. According to the analysis results, study circle activities by librarian gives an opportunity of sharing information related to school library operation and cultivating competence as a librarian, in addition to being helpful in enhancing their performance capability in school libraries.
