AB - This study surveyed public library librarians on their perceptions and current use of new media platforms to explore future strategies for collection and preservation. The survey results indicated that while librarians highly value the preservation of new media content, they cited budget constraints and technical limitations as major challenges. In particular, they emphasized the need for clear collection criteria, resolution of copyright issues, and policy support. Additionally, the findings highlighted the necessity of education and support to enhance understanding and utilization of new technologies, such as immersive content and the metaverse. Based on these insights, public libraries should establish digital content collection and preservation policies, strengthen technical infrastructure, and increase professional capacity to improve their new media-based services.
