AB - This study explores ways to build a digital preservation system for documentary heritage related to regional agricultural specialty products, focusing on the case of Jangdan Sambaek in Paju. To this end, it examines historical documents, geographical records, modern newspaper articles, research reports, monographs, and academic papers related to Paju rice, Jangdan soybeans, and Gaeseong ginseng, while also reviewing the current status of records management and services provided by relevant institutions, including the Paju Cultural Center, Paju Central Library, Gyeonggi Memory, and the Gyeonggi Cyber Library. The analysis shows that related materials are dispersed across multiple institutions and systems, while standardized metadata, integrated search structures, digitization of original materials, and long-term preservation systems remain insufficient, thereby limiting their integrated preservation and use. In response, this study systematizes the target materials for digital preservation of Paju’s agricultural specialty documentary heritage by type and subject, and proposes a Paju-specific hybrid metadata schema combining DC, MODS, and EAD. It also presents a long-term preservation structure based on the OAIS reference model and a logical inter-institutional linkage strategy, thereby offering a reference model for the systematic preservation and use of documentary heritage related to regional agricultural specialty products.
