AB - This study is to analyze teacher librarians’ BIBFRAME-related education and awareness, objective understanding, and readiness for adoption to explore strategies for transitioning to a next-generation bibliographic environment through a survey of 133 teacher librarians from elementary, middle, and high schools. The results showed that most respondents had no prior BIBFRAME education, and more than half reported no prior awareness. Educational experience did not differ by school level, years of experience, or educational background, whereas prior awareness differed by years of experience, with teacher librarians with 1-3 years of experience showing relatively higher awareness. Regarding objective understanding, participants recognized the practical need for BIBFRAME but lacked understanding of technical foundations such as RDF-based structures, core classes, and serialization methods. Readiness for adoption was positively related to understanding, but the relationship had low explanatory power, suggesting that current readiness reflects willingness to embrace change and recognition of educational needs more than sufficient BIBFRAME knowledge. Accordingly, to transition to BIBFRAME in school libraries, greater emphasis on BIBFRAME in teacher librarian training, certification, and continuing education, practice-oriented programs, and operational support from schools, education offices, and related institutions are needed. This study examines BIBFRAME adoption in school libraries and suggests educational and policy directions for next-generation bibliographic environments.
