ABSTRACT

The Anishinaable is one of various indigenous people of Canada. This article explored the Anishinaabe women's Traditional Teachings and pedagogies in a contemporary way as an act of resistance. The focus of this article is the Anishinaabe Research Methodology as an intellectual framework that is oriented on relationships, responsibility, reciprocity, and the reclamation of our knowledges in their communities. The Anishinaabe Research Methodology is integral to the Anishinaabe principles of living known as the Seven Grandparent Teachings. We used a research technique known as Nbwaachiwi (the art of visiting). We used the 'Aunties kitchen table' style of knowledge collection, which is open-ended and one-on-one - just like you'd be at your auntie's kitchen table, sharing stories and drinking tea. The information presented in this paper can help mothers who want to learn Traditional Teachings and pedagogies in order to resist intergenerational trauma and colonization. With the Inheritance of Anishinaabe maternal teachings and pedagogies, mothers are determined to raise their infants using Anishinaabe traditional methods, will have cultural identities and lives than their previous generation.
