ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the characteristics of fire services in Cheongju City and identified vulnerable areas using a spatial analysis method. It employed a kernel density analysis to identify the areas with high density of illegal parking and stopping, and the GIS network analysis to calculate fire protection accessibility for fire trucks to reach the destination within both 5 minutes and 10 minutes from the departure at the fire station. This study found that adequate fire service has not been provided for Cheongju City and there is a difference in fire service vulnerability in the outskirt of Cheongju City. To solve this problem, it is recommended that a proper fire-fighting arrangement needs to be provided in the vulnerable areas. The results of this study can be used as the basic data for targeted arrangement of fire-fighting services in Cheongju City.
