ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is using a quantitative method to measure the effects of factors such as the number of sentences and the number of words and phrases forming reading texts for Korean language education on the difficulty of such reading texts. For this purpose, we measured the number of sentences and the number of words and phrases in reading texts included in TOPIK examinations for the reading section. According to the results, the number of sentences and the number of words and phrases were significantly larger in higher levels. However, the difference in the number of sentences between low levels and high levels did not have a significant effect, and the number of words and phrases was similar among the 4th and higher levels.
