ABSTRACT

Objectives : The aim of this study is to verify the effect of oriental medical treatment on Wallenberg's syndrome caused by lateral medullary infarction by clinical report. Methods : Dong-Qi acupuncture therapy, herbal medicine were used to treat dysphagia and dry needling on SCM muscle, herbal medicine were used to releive headache, vertigo, gait ataxia, sensory change, ptosis, diplopia, anhydrosis. We used the Swallowing Scale on dysphagia, and used VAS on headache, vertigo, sensory change, ptosis, diplopia. Results : Dysphagia was improved, Swallowing Scale changed from 1 to 6. And headache, vertigo, sensory change, ptosis, diplopia were also improved, VAS score changed from 7, 7, 8, 9, 9 to 1-2, 2-3, 5, 0, 0. Conclusions : Oriental Herbal Medication by differentiation of symptoms and conservative treatment had effect on an improvement of symptoms caused by lateral medullary syndrome.
