Methods : We divided the subjects into 5 groups : normal, control with no treatment, Sample Ⅰ taken with Dangkisoo-san(Dangguixu-san), Sample Ⅱ taken with Neutral Eohyeol(Yuxue) herbal acupuncture and sample Ⅲ taken with Neutral Eohyeol(Yuxue) herbal acupuncture and Dangkisoo-san(Dangguixu-san) groups. We induced penetrating fracture on femur in control, sample Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ groups. And after serum T-ALP, serum osteocalcin, histological changes, and the degree of TGF-β1 in each group were observed at the 7th day and at the 14th day respectively. Results : All the sample groups showed significant changes in serum T-ALP, histological observation and TGF-beta 1 compared with control group. Especially sample Ⅲ was more effective than other groups in fracture healing. However, serum osteocalcin insignificantly increased at the 14th day. It seemed that 14 day was too short to evaluate osteocalcin. Conclusions : It is suggested that Neutral Eohyeol(Yuxue) herbal acupuncture and Dangkisoo-san(Dangguixu-san) may play a significant role in fracture healing and these two treatments could be more effective when used together.
