ABSTRACT

Objectives : This study was carried out to know the inhibitory effect of Kuseupbokhap-bang(Qùshīfùhé-fāng; KC) on rheumatoid arthritis in human fibroblast-like synoviocytes(hFLSs). Methods : For this purpose, experiments were performed to measure the cytotoxicity against hFCs and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in hFLSs and the production of NO, ROS. Results : KC had no cytotoxicity against hFCs and reduced the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, IL-1β in hFLSs, increased the production of TIMP-1. As well as KC reduced the production of MMP-3, NOS-II, ICAM-1, the production of Nitric oxide and ROS, and the proliferation of hFLSs in proportion to the concentration of KC significantly. Conclusions : Comparison of the results for this study showed that KC had immunomodulatory effects of suppressing or enhancing.
