ABSTRACT

Hemifacial spasm is a facial nerve disorder characterized by episodic involuntary facial muscle contraction. In this study, the effect of Acupuncture and Electro- acupuncture ther-apy for two patient with hemifascial spasm were evaluated. Two patients with hemifacial spasm were treated with Acupuncture and Electro-acupuncture and evaluated with Scott's scale and Treatment satisfaction grade. In Case 1, the grade of spasm intensity classified by Scott’s description improved from 3 to 1. In Case 2, the grade improved from 4 to 2. Patients were satisfied with the treatment in both cases. Acupuncture and Electro-acu-puncture seem to be effective in the treatment of hemifacial spasm. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2017;27(1):77-81)
