ABSTRACT

Purpose : The purposes of this study were to 1) draw the core teaching competency for rotating faculties according to procedures of teaching at AFNA, 2) identify the difference of perception level between faculties and cadets and 3) evaluate educational needs for teaching competency. Methods : Behavior event interview(BEI) was conducted by distinguished rotating faculties. And then criteria and items were developed after core competence was examined at each procedure. After verifying the content validity, the data was collected from the whole rotating faculties(n=20) and cadets(n=286). Results : 34 teaching competency criteria and detail items which developed by each procedure verified the validity and reliability. There were the differences in the perception level between faculties and cadets. Also in each group the difference of importance and current level was significant. There were various education needs in general areas; Plan, Do, See procedures for faculties and cadets. Conclusion : The findings of this study demonstrate that the core teaching competency which was developed in this study will be useful for job training for new professors. This study also has a great significance in the aspect of presenting practical directions on preparing and monitoring of learner-centered teaching.
