ABSTRACT

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of health behavior and quality of life, and to identify relating factors among the Korean navy. Method: The subjects of this study were 199 navy personnels working in three different navy fleets located in Korea. Result: The mean score of Health Practice Index (HPI) was 3.60 and the total mean score of quality of life was 3.58. The HPI demonstrated statistically significant difference according to the branch of service (p=.012), current working department (p=.024), and ship working period (p=.003). Among variables that was significantly related to the quality of life, the social support (β=.47, p<.001), adjustment in military service (β=.26, p<.001), physical environment (β=.17, p=.002), and HPI (β=.12, p=.017) were factors that influence the quality of life (Adj. R2=.560, p=.017). Conclusion: The results of this study support that strategies and interventions considering the environmental factors for enhancing the health promotion are necessary to promote the level of health behavior and quality of life of korean navy.
