ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study investigated the level of clinical practicum stress, emotional stability, and mindfulness of the cadets. It verified the mediating effect of mindfulness in the relationship between clinical practicum stress and emotional stability. Methods: A descriptive research design was used. An online survey of 124 junior and senior cadets was conducted from October to November 2023. The data were analyzed using SPSS independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and PROCESS Macro program based on regression analysis. Results: The mean scores of clinical practicum stress, mindfulness, and emotional stability were 2.78/5, 3.79/5, and 3.59/5, respectively. Clinical practicum stress was negatively associated with mindfulness (r=-2.91, p=.001) and emotional stability (r=-4.63, p<.001), and mindfulness was positively associated with emotional stability (r=.784, p<001). Mindfulness showed mediation effect in the relationship between clinical practicum stress and emotional stability. Conclusion: This study identified that promoting mindfulness plays an important role in reducing clinical practicum stress. Therefore, it is important to develop and conduct a mindfulness program to improve emotional stability of KAFNA cadets.
