ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study aimed to develop an instrument for assessing the urogenital health behaviors of female soldiers of the Republic of Korea (ROK) army. Methods: 65 initial items were derived from a literature review and focus group interview s w ith 13 participants using purposive sampling. Five experts verified the preliminary scale through a content validity test. Instrument testing was conducted on 223 female soldiers in the ROK army in October 2023. Results: Exploratory factor analysis showed three factors including 24 items with 57.8% of the total variance. Factors were urogenital hygiene management during field training, urogenital hygiene management in daily routines, and menstrual cycle management. The factors were verified through convergent, discriminant, and criterion-related validity. The internal consistency reliability was Cronbach's α=.91. Conclusion: The Urogenital Health Behaviors Scale for female soldiers of the ROK army was verified through various evaluations for validity and reliability. This instrument may be used to assess urogenital health behaviors and to improve female soldiers’ urogenital health behaviors in the ROK army
