AB - ‘Be in the vanguard' has a special significance in the point that it is the first labor play the specialty court play team performed. It can be said that 'Be in the vanguard' is a staple product of understanding of the change and growth in the court plays that they have performed.
It is reflected in this play that laborers never surrender to any oppression and even are dignified like them in previous court plays dealt with subject matters of labor. Also it assumes a new aspect that moreover workers have political points of view like historical recognition and social reform. Through presenting this advanced form of laborers it shows an optimistic view of social change by workers fighting jointly. It can bear a construction that the viewpoint of social reform in this play is reflected Cheonjiyeon members' propensity. At that time the play members had a disposition to advocate a people´s democracy. It was reflected in this play.
It can be called that dramaturgie shows much more refined aspect as well. It can be an example that a debate scene was used to settle a corollary of fighting logically and using songs broadly animated the atmosphere of the play. Besides the characters of workers were material as a group in former plays but on the other the characters in this play were individualization. The individualization of characters plays an important role to reinforce laborers' reality following after their routine.
As a result the work ‘Be in the vanguard' can be in a position to provide a new aesthetic trend to labor plays in both side of contents and forms.
