ABSTRACT

In the 1950s, Im Hui-jae wrote 5 dramas, <Giryuji>, <Boknal>, <Muheoga Hasukjip>, <Kkochipeul Meokgo Saneun Gigwancha>, and <Gorae>. People who lost their home and hometown appear in his 5 dramas. At that time, South Korea was changing from Japanese's colony to a capitalist country by the US' affecting, so South Korea's social environment must be changed. The environment effect those characters who became poor people because of Korean War. The social environment divides the inside from the outside. Characters in Im Hui-jae's dramas must be placed outside, and become others by people who are inside. However, author consciousness are different about each characters. Characters in <Giryuji> and <Boknal> are just dead, so Im Hui-jae could not show the solution for people who are outside. People in <Muheoga Hasukjip> are just solved their problem by family's affection, so it must not be a practical solution. However, Im Hui-jae get suspicious about rational awareness by being presented a woman who can not be understanding with men's views in <Kkochipeul Meokgo Saneun Gigwancha>. Consequently, in <Gorae> characters show the vitality that can not be realized by rational awareness. This changing of Im Hui-jae's dramas are valuable because it overcome the limits of the realism and the possibility of solution that is linked with others at that time.
