AB - 유치진과 오영진은 근대 한국의 희곡 문학을 대표하는 두 극작가이다. 그들의 작품은 한국 희곡의 전범이자 원형이 되었으며, 그들의 창작 세계는 한국 희곡(사)에서 중요한 분석 대상이자 정신사적 사표가 되었다. 이상우는 이러한 두 극작가의 일본(어) 체험을 통해 그들의 정신사적 궤적이 어떻게 일본(어)과 만나고 분리되고 또 영향을 받았는가를 논구했다. 이상우의 시각과 문제제기는 그 자체로 한국 희곡사의 중요한 맥락과 본질과 맞닿아 있는 지점이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이를 이해하고 그 문제의식을 발전시키는 것은 후대 학자들의 몫이자 미래 연구의 초석이라고 하겠다.
