ABSTRACT

The paper aims to examine the way historical events are reproduced and the political nature inherent in them in one of North Korea's five major revolutionary plays, Hyulboonmankukhoi. It is the "seed" that is constantly being emphasized in North Korean literature and art. North Korea's description of the seed as the core of the work and the ideological kernel shows that the content of the work is more important than formality. This is because content is more important than formality in order to promote and instigate the party to the inmates. Therefore, the core of the scenes of Hyulboonmankukhoi and the core of each chapter are analyzed to analyze the process of the seeding of the play. The play also embodies the political character of the party in the way it embodies the main character Lee Jun. In other words, Hyulboonmankukhoi embodies the main character Lee Jun as an anti-independent human being and a class dependent on foreign powers, a figure far from the independence, anti-imperialism and class liberation of North Korea. However, there is a reason why Lee Jun, the real person, is portrayed like this. The move was aimed at ironically emphasizing national ideology through the main character Lee Jun, and further emphasizing that Kim Il-sung is the opposite of Lee Jun. This political meaning is the content of Hyulboonmankukhoi, which in the end is the embodiment of seed.
