A Study on Missing and Publication System of Gyo-jang

ABSTRACT

Eui-cheon play a leading part in engraving and printing of Gyo-jang. The early researchers understood Gyo-jang are woodblocks were engraved from Gyo-jang- do-gam in Hung-wang-sa. The result of successive study and research, We can gain comprehension of Gyo-jang woodblocks were engraved from Gwang-gyo-won in Gum-san-sa and imported from Sòng dynasty. Furthermore the 82th volume of Beob-won-ju-rim was shown to the public recently. Accordingly, we have a new understanding about engraving and printing of Gyo-jang. I can now tell ascertain the facts about Gyo-jang consist of four sections; woodblocks were engraved from Gyo-jang-do-gam in Hung-wang-sa after 1090, woodblocks were engraved from Gwang-gyo-won in Gum-san-sa after 1083, woodblocks imported from Sòng dynasty in 1087, woodblocks added to the First Edition of Tripitaka Koreana. And All Gyo-jang woodblocks were not stored at one place. Therefore We should know that woodblocks were not destroyed in together with the First Edition of Tripitaka Koreana in Mongolian attacks.
