A Study on the Standard Process orders of Sonwon-kyebo-kiryak in Publishing, Distribution, and Enshrinement - During Sukjong and Kyungjong’s Period -

ABSTRACT

This article is a study on the standard process orders of Sonwon-kyebo-kiryak sevral editions in publishing, distribution, and enshrinement during Sukjong and Kyungjong’s period. Sonwon-kyebo-kiryak had been published 114 times during about 250 years from 1679 till 1932. Some of them, 8 editions had been published during Sukjong and Kyungjong’s period of beginning time about 50years. Analyzing and synthesizing each process orders of publishing, distribution and enshrinement of these 8 editions, the imaginary standard process orders was turned out like these, 1) making a recommendation of publishing to the king and the king’s approval, 2) establishing the Kyojeongcheong, 3) electing chief executive, 4) making of administrative rules and regulations, 5) gathering genealogical records, 6) separating of workroom, 7) dividing of work, 8) repairing equipment and guarding, 9) checking genealogical records, 10) the first draft and review, 11) the second draft and review, and proofreading, 12) precise transcription for the king, 13) binding and decorating of precise transcription books for the king, 14) presenting precise transcription books to the king, 15) making the final transcription to be attached to the wood blocks, 16) engraving on the wood blocks, 17) the printing, 18) binding, and decorating of the books, 19) dedicating finished books to the king and crown prince and its ceremony, 20) dedicating the ceremony writing, 21) cleaning used papers, 22) the abolition of Kyojeongcheong, 23) awarding a prize, 24) the king’s distribution of the books to the royal families and high officials, 25) enshrinement, in sequence.
