AB - This is a study of the characters and the worth of “DongHyunHakChick”, “ChoHakGaGo” and “IlWongJipYo” compiled by HaReou HwangDuckGil as the books of SoHak class. These 3 books well present HwangDuckGil’s writing style. He paid attention to write the SoHak books because he was directly affected by his teacher, Ahn-JungBock. Therefore these are the products of the results. The contents of “DongHyunHakChick” include some good words and behavior. It was expressed the broad principle which should be followed by academic starters. “IlWongJipYo” is a same educational textbook as “DongHyunHakChick” for academic learners. However the difference between them is that “DongHyunHakChick” is edited wordings by Chinese scholars. “ChoHakGaGo” also includes teachings on ethics and morality for academic starters. There are representative books affected by HwangDuckGil’s SoHak. These are “DongHak” written by YangJun LeeSangHo, “HaeDongSokSoHak” written by JinGae ParkJaeSung and “DaeDongSoHak” written by KimHyungJae. It implies that the emergence of the SoHak was from 3 books compiled by HwangDuckGil. As mentioned above, this study examines the features of the SoHak class edited by HwangDuckGil and indicates the similarities and differences among them. It also identifies how the HwangDuckGil’s SoHak type was deeply influenced by SoHak compilers and writers in the late Chosun Dynasty.
