ABSTRACT

This study was placed an order by National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage in 2014, and summarizes main results of ‘A study on academic bases of Zeungdogaja’ conducted by The Industrial-Academic Cooperation Group, Kyungpook University. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, the shape of the print type tends to correspond to that of Laws and Treatises and Saganbon in 12th to 13th century. Secondly, we analyzed 20 privately owned print types out of the target print types using radiocarbon dating techniques. It was confirmed that in the case of 11 print types, production period of China ink found and the period of its use correspond to prior to 12th century. Thirdly, nondestructive analysis of the metal surface shows some deviations derived from the surface contamination of the target print type and the state of being covered with soil. However, we could identify the data confirmed by “㠅” Metal Type owned by National Museum of Korea and similar data opened by the prior research.
