ABSTRACT

In this study, found out purpose of construction and timing using various of historical records and I identified the main fuctions of each library analyze the contents of the catalog. And found out how to write the catalog. Based on the characteristics of the collection, compare the actual functions of the library and the amount of books contained in the library. As a result, Daechukkuan and Seunghwaru are estimated to have been constructed between 1782 and 1784. Seunghwaru carried out function of storing books and it was the study room of the prince. On the other hand, Daechukkuan only stored books. Analysis of how to write a catalog, simply put the book of title and volumes. So presumed to be used as a checklist. And look at the theme of the book on each catalog, both libraries have many anthology, and The Daechukkuan-seomok contains a total of 18 novels written in korean, including “劉氏三代錄”, which suggests that they were widely used in royal palaces.
