ABSTRACT

This study examined the physical analysis, composition and production of Daranitapdang made in 1322 of Goryeo. This material described the 10-story pagoda as a gold-colored siddham characters, and no similar material has been reported in Korea so far. However, One material of the 13th-century Goryeo Beophwagyeongtapdo, which was written in Chinese characters in Dongsa temple, Tokyo, also remain to this day. This type of relics can be found in several places in Japan. It is important that Dharanitapdo records the writer of Jeon Yook, the originator and the time of manufacture and uses the term “Dang(幢)” in form. This raises the need for comparison with the Siddam character written seokdang of the Goryeo Dynasty. Through this series of work, access to and interpretation of the Esoteric Buddhist Ritual Process and material of siddham letter that is called Jineun could be added, that were popular in the 13th and 14th centuries. It can be also helping to shed light on background of thought. In addition, in this study, the current status of Darani woodblock-printed publications in the form of pagodas that continued until the late Joseon Dynasty, we wanted to find out the linkages through existing data.
