ABSTRACT

This study is about book exchange in the East Asia in the 17th Century by Erchengquanshu (二程全書) published in Ming period. This book is about Chenghao(程顥) and Chengyi(程頤)’s quotation that had been recorded by their students or a collection of works and so on. It had been published since Song (宋) period because they established theoretical basis for the doctrines of Chu-tzu (朱子學). But It was Ming period Chenghua (成化) in 1476 that was first published in the form of collection, and It was six times to publish during Ming period at least. These six editions differ in included chapters and part of text each other. Among those, there are two editions published in Joseon until the 16th Century. Meanwhile, Japan began to be accepted doctrines of Chu-tzu in the 17th century. And this Ming edition published by Xubida (徐必達, 1562-1645) in 1606 had been introduced to Joseon and Japan each. And this book was accepted by publishing or holding by an individual or the government services in each country. But it was different publisher between Joseon and Japan. in the case of Joseon, It was government, but in Japan, it was the publishers. Therefore, This ming edition is valuable as research material for study about the book exchange in the East Asia in the pre-modern period.
