AB - SeokwonSarim is a kind of classical encyclopedias(類書) that is compiled and published by Buddhist texts collected by Uicheon (1055-1101). This study analyzed the significance of bibliography and contents of SeokwonSarim. The above is summarized as follows.
There are 250 Volumes in SeokwonSarim, and 5 books (Volume 191 to 195) exist at Kyujanggak, Seoul National University. SeokwonSarim was completed and published between 1101 and 1108. In the current version, there is a Pihwi(避諱) for the kings of the early period of Goryo Dynasty. Pihwi letters are Taejo Gun(建), Hyejong Mu(武), Gwangjong So(昭), Sungjong Chi(治), Mokjong Song(誦), Hyunjong Soon(詢), Dukjong Heum(欽), Jungjong Hyung(亨), Munjong Whi(徽), Soonjong Hoon(勳), Seonjong Woon(運), Sookjong Ong(顒), Ryung(隆).
There are 12 Mukdeung(墨等) in SeokwonSarim’s Jingwanseonsabi(眞觀禪師碑). It was presumed that it could not be read at the time of compilation of SeokwonSarim, so it would have been left on the board for later.
The composition and contents of SeokwonSarim are epitaphs(碑文) from 191 to 193, 194 are Gal(碣) and JI(誌), and 195 are Rwe(誄). The Rwe(誄) of Vol. 195 is contained in the same order and content in the Seunghang chapter(僧行篇) of the 23rd Guanghongmingji(廣弘明集). This paper compares SeokwonSarim with Jaejojang(再雕藏) and Chaochengzhang(趙城藏). This can be used to estimate the Bottom Book(底本) or lineage of SeokwonSarim, and can be referenced to the Authentic book(定本化) of SeokwonSarim through the differences of letters(文字異同).
Compilation and publication of SeokwonSarim in Goryeo is a large-scale compilation project carried out as a national project. In addition, this compilation project is the result of international exchange activities and the achievement of the Buddhism as the mission of the times.
