Information for Authors

The Journal publishes only papers that are related to spinal surgery research and the practice of spine surgery: original articles (including meta-analyses), review articles, technical reports, case reports, editorials, and responses to editorials. The Journal also publishes invited articles.

The review of a manuscript will proceed under the assumption that the authors have complied with the policies and guidelines of the Society detailed below. Papers submitted to the Journal are also to follow international reporting guidelines. These include the guideline for Reporting Research Studies (www.equator-network.org), the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT statement; www.consort-statement.org) for randomized controlled trials, the Standards for Reporting of Diagnostic Accuracy (STARD; http://www.stard-statement.org/), the Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (QUOROM; http://www.biomedcentral.com/content/supplementary/1471-2261-10-24-s1.pdf), the Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE; www.strobe-statement.org), the Guidelines for Case Reports (CARE; www.care-statement.org), and any other relevant international guidelines.

For any other issue not addressed by the above guidelines, authors should follow the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication (http://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf).
