ABSTRACT

Illegal streaming sites repeatedly change their domains and markup structure to evade blocking, invalidating the XPath and CSS selectors used to collect infringement evidence. A prior study restored ground-truth locators from a mutation log, which is unavailable when tracking real sites. We extend the prior mutation rules with node deletion and text transformation, introduce three relative stress levels, reorganize the operators into five areas, and evaluate six element location strategies on 63 targets from 21 pages of 13 site brands in public web archives. Absolute XPath applies to all targets, yet its survival rate drops to 20.3% even under the weakest level, whereas ID selectors are robust but can be generated for only 22.2% of targets, revealing a trade-off between robustness and applicability. Since different transformation areas invalidate different strategies, combining multiple strategies may be effective. These findings can inform locator design in infringement-monitoring collection systems.
