ABSTRACT

In recent years, decentralization has been conceived as an inevitable force for the competitiveness of a nation and regions in many countries. Decentralization can be defined as the devolution by central government of specific functions, with all of the administrative, political and economic attributes. This study aims to analyze a full view of decentralization reform and its impact on libraries and draws an inference of public library's directions in Korea. It is still premature to talk about interdependence of decentralization and public libraries, but we must start an analytical and inferential research.
