AB - The purposes of this research are to find out why the Korean librarianship has not been fully
recognized as a profession and how its recognition can be improved. This research also tries to
investigate what the librarians are actually doing at libraries and if their works reflect the criteria
of professional works. The research was done through the questionnaires sent to the graduates of
the Department of Library Science, Daegu Catholic University working at various types of libraries.
Based on the results of the survey, some efforts to improve the professionalism of librarianship are
suggested.
