AB - This study aims to establish a theoretical foundation for community archives by systematically analyzing their concepts and characteristics based on South Korean cases. Using five keywords—“공동체 아카이브,” “커뮤니티 아카이브,” “community archive,” “민간 아카이브,” and “시민 아카이브”—a total of 64 Korean journal articles were retrieved via the academic information system of Pusan National University Library. From these, 57 relevant cases were selected for final analysis. Using the qualitative analysis tool NVivo R1, the study found that Korean community archives exhibit common characteristics and typological tendencies in several aspects: definitions of the cases, operation status of digital archive, the operating entity, types and methods of record collection, methods of record construction, and archival reference service. Through this case-based analysis, the study offers academic significance by categorizing their content-related characteristics.
