AB - The purpose of this paper is to suggest that the academic writing courses in Korean universities should be centered on writing a research essay and the complete writing of an unfinished research essay could be a useful method of the courses in poor learning conditions. In order to accomplish this purpose, our inquiries have been carried out in accordance with the following procedures and methods : First of all, looking at the definition of academic writing, we sought to find out what kind of writing should be at the center of academic writing courses. Secondly, looking straight at the fact that the most difficulty for learners in academic writing courses is not to argue their own new ideas confidently, we sought to solve this problem. Finally, we searched for a concrete solution to conduct the meaningful academic writing courses in poor learning conditions.
Depending on the above procedures and methods, the results of our inquires are as follows: ① Academic writing courses should be focused on complete writing an unfinished research essay, which allows learners to learn how to write the so-called academic writing. ② The most important for learners to fulfill complete writing the unfinished research essay is the synthetic thinking, which is the analogic thinking of Kant’s reflective judgment and accordingly human being’s natural one. ③ In light of poor learning conditions, complete writing an unfinished research essay is a significant method of learning an academic writing. ④ In addition, doing complete writing an unfinished research essay, learners learn how to rationally communicate with other people in the world, how to improve their ability to solve the problems by positioning them appropriately within the integrated framework, and how to skillfully do any writing with utilizing some related materials.
