AB - The purpose of this paper is to reconstruct and critically evaluate the core of Park's philosophy, which was already praised by domestic philosophers, with the keyword ‘question’. Questioning is nothing more than a philosophizing(from Greek φιλοσοφία, literally ‘philia of sophia’). Park is a philosopher who threw many questions and was obsessed with questions. He distinguishes philosophical questions from non-philosophical questions, and defines logic as a form of questions. According to him, the logic is divided into ‘the logic of the answer’ that assumes the correct answer and ‘the logic of the question’ that does not. He has regarded the question as a primitive life phenomenon(ex. stab, smell). If the logic of Western and Eastern civilizations is the logic of the answer, the marginal such as Koreans and Jews have a way of thinking close to the primitive logic of the question. In recent years, Park has published an original ontology, so called the ‘ontology of x’. According to its ontology, Being shows three phases. (1) x: an individuality with a body containing the memory of eternity (2) ¬x: thing that performs infinite imagination and self-destruction on the basis of x, and (3) X( ): thing that will defeat both x and ¬x ultimately. It is expected that a fair evaluation will be conducted through further studies.
Achilles’ heel of Park’s philosophy lies in ‘philia’, which is at the base of the question. It lies in the ethics of the question. Of course, Park also suggests ‘protecting nature of individuality and prohibiting self-righteousness.’ However, we cannot find the source of this words in the ontology of x. The obligation is not derived from the world of the Being. Sophia, a byproduct of Being-question, has no right to prohibit. In sophia, there is only to be something. The obligation can only be found in philia, which drives the Being-question. Only through the mouth of incomprehensible philia like x, can be said the unconditional obligation.
