AB - This study is to show how satisfied firefighters and building managers are with fire inspections and their differences using a questionnaire. As a background, current realities and policies are analyzed. One interesting finding is with respect to contracting-out of the inspection work. Most firefighters prefer it, but most building managers oppose it. The reason why they are against it is that it produces a cost burden. Both parties agree on such desirable directions like active participation of building managers, reducing the scope of inspection, enhancing expertise of inspectors, clarification of punishment, and avoiding overlapping inspections.
